shaved emblems

anyone have any tips about this? preferably painting after them emblem is off (painted over factory color)

I took the "ACURA" off my coupe a week ago w/ some dental floss.. Next the sticky glue I went to the local car detailing spot and i think thy used som bug/tar removal stuff and removed it. It also may have been some type of degreaser....
