Well, I got a new muffler put on today, a PowerTech off of ebay. Looks great and has a nice deep tone, BUT the facker is WAY TOO LOUD.

Is there ANYWAY to silence it a bit?

Before i had it put on, i was checking out the inside and i could see all the way through. I don't know if there is anything that i could shove in there (not a banana or potato) to silence it a bit.

woah.. mine is nakayama universal and it's not too bad. perhaps you can stick a resonator between the muffler and cat to make it quieter???

however, this guy doesn't sell just the silencer and offered no clue on where to get them. I CAN'T FIND THEM WITHOUT THE MUFFLER ANYWHERE.

check out summit racing or jc whitney. i think they both sell silencers. some cap the muffler, others are welded into the pipes.

thx man. summit racing was very helpful. i purchased an insert from there that goes/welds into the exaust pipes after the cat.

http://www.carchemistry.com/ccinserts.html or just wait and i'll tell you if it makes a difference. Carchemistry website and charts show that this actully increases low and mid end power. I don't know if that's bs or not, but i don't care since i'm trying to quiet the sound.

well.....i'm having it put in tuesday at the latest so i will let you know. to install my muffler i was charged $80, so i figure it should be about half that since they only have to re-weld half the spots, but who knows. i'm also getting my ac worked on and a pressure switch put on so he might cut me a break on the welding. i hope so....i've only spend 2k there in the last month.

I needed some sensor switch or some POS for my tranny and that just came in today. So..............i'm going tomorrow and will post as soon as i get home about this time tomorrow.

.....it quieted it 50%-60% IMO. It still has a nice deep tone when i'm sitting still and rev it up but when i'm driving i can't hear my exhaust unless i get on it.


I wish i would have gone with the 2disc application, but the 3 is fine with me. I wish the 2 disc b/c it seems to have sapped the power i've gained and back to stock performance. BUT.....this could be in my head b/c it's not as loud.

Thanks for the info. I would have thought you may have gotten some low to mid range torque from this and just not as much HP on the high end. I'll probably get mine installed tomorrow.

is it THAT bad before the "silencer" thingy? is it really loud at idle? i was thinking of getting one of those and dumping it in my mom's car. hahaa.. yea, i know i shouldn't, but i drive her car a lot too.
