signal mirrors

what do you guys think about the signal mirrors with the led arrow in it?i emailed them and asked if they would consider doing a retrofit kit for our car but i guess it depends on the demands.i saw a kit on ebay for led arrows that are at least 3 3/4 inch high and they go behind our mirrors.what you guys think of these?

Doubtful....

I sent an e-mail to The Muth Co. and they said:

"Thank you for your interest in Signal Mirrors!

As you are aware, we do not have a retrofit specific kit available for your Acura. The main reason is low demand. The kit for the 98 Accord Cpe will not fit your vehicle as the mirror mounts are different.

At this point, the only kit that will be available for your Acura is our
Wide Angle Signal Mirror. It's a fully-functional Signal Mirror that
doubles as a blind-spot mirror. Go here to see the mirror:

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me

Here was my response on 1/3:

Chris:
What would you consider acceptable demand? Reason I ask is that there is a dedicated group of Legend enthuasists about 150-200 strong that would be interested in your product if it were available and priced reasonably. Thanks---

Steve

As of today, he has not replied. Guess they don't want our business. Later---

Yo Jedi
i just got mail from them, it reads as follows:

Thank you for your inquiry!

We currently do not offer a kit that will fit the 1992 Acura Legend. The reason is low demand to date. We'll keep your info on file and if demand increases enough to justify a kit, we'll contact you.

I have received a few request from an online group of Legend owners. Are you from the same site? Could you provide me with the web address?

Please advise at your convenience.

i responded:

yes i am! we have had a been conversating on this item for like a month now. the site is as follows- http://www.legend-forum.com. if there is anything we can do to start a production of these fore our sedan and coupes will be greatly appreciated. i'll have them start a poll to see how many of us want them. you should go to the site anyway

Hope i helped!

Another response from The Muth Co.:

Dear Steve,

Generally, we will try to stay with current models that have the
possibility of continuing on for several years. To justify producing a retrofit specific kit, we will try to target vehicles where the kit will sell into the thousands to justify the tooling costs. I have had a few requests from your web group, which is why I was waiting to reply to you. I wanted to see what type of interest was generated.
Do you know how similar your mirrors are when compared to the Honda Accord? We have had quite a few requests for the 98-02 and the 94-97 models. We have been considering sourcing a whole housing to replace the entire mirror with a Signal Mirror, like our Chevy pickup kit:
http://www.muthco.com/products/kits/200-0019.htm
We would have to do this because the mirrors on both of these Accord models are unserviceable for mirror glass replacements. Please understand this isn't going to happen for sure, but if we found your mirrors to be the same, it may help.

Thank you for your patience.

Chris Wedge

And this was my response:

Chris:

I'm not sure how similar our mirrors are to '94 to '02 Accords but I do know that unlike the Accord's, our mirrors are capable of glass replacement. I will check with other members of the Legend Forum to see if anybody knows the similarities between our mirrors and the Accord's. Also, if you would like the mirror removal procedure from the Legend service manual, I'd be more than happy to provide that. Thanks---

Steve

If anybody knows the similarities/differences between the 2 mirror types, please acknowledge. This may be our only chance to get signal mirrors in our lifetime. Thanks---
