So I was thinking to myself about possibly moving on from the Legend and getting back into a car that I miss. Now don't call me crazy but I miss my 1984 VW Jetta GLI it was one of the most fun cars I have ever driven. It had Autotech lowering springs, Bilstein Sport shocks, Autotech lower subframe, Euro bumpers and grille and it was small and handled like it was on rails. Now don't get me wrong I like my legend it was and still is a pretty damn good car, but now it comes down to the fact that I just don't want to sink the money into the maintenance of this car. So I was toying with the idea of selling it as I can't keep up with two cars and have damn huge student loans to pay. Plus the fact that there just aren't alot of aftermarket parts for our cars. So the question is and I do realize that this is an Acura forum but do you think I'm crazy for thinking of ditching the Legend?

I will be very sorry to lose such a close Legend owner (that I haven't even met yet!), but I will be the first to knock on your door and take it off your hands, if that's the decision you reach. Let me know, we'll meet somewhere on the west side or wherever is closest to you. It will likely be the first time I've ever tried to talk someone into keeping the car I'm coming to buy!

It's not that I dislike the car I just miss my VW what can I say I just liked driving it. Not that I don't like driving the Legend just not the same. I would like to find another Mk 1 GLI but dont think thats possible I will look into newer model VWs. I'm just throwing out the idea of letting the Legend go just an idea haven't gotten rid of the old girl yet. It might take awhile to find the VW I like...

It's not much to look @ thats pretty much the reason I was considering on getting rid of the legend. Visualize this: Typical rusted rear panels(from a life in Chicago), faded white paint, beat up factory wheels(all center caps intact though), woodgrain, igee seat covers and a non working bose stereo! I will see if I can find a camera and post some picks

Its a sedan with a slush box. Now if I could find a coupe with a manual transmission I might consider staying with the legend but the call of the VW is strong. Mr. Symphony I will be off work all weekend if you want to grab a beer somewhere and talk legends let me know.

She runs great other than the few oil leaks which I guess is expected with age. 138k and change on the odo. Hell the only thing I have done to her since I got it was new battery, new rear brakes, new alternator, and main relay. I did pull the abs fuse though as I couldn't stand that damn gurgling noise.

That gurgling noise probably just means that the ABS brake fluid needs changing because it is so old, dirty and foaming up badly. Mine was mighty nasty when I changed it, just due to age. I switched all the brake fluid to the valvoline synthetic high temp stuff, and all is well.

I might have to look into changing the brake fluid never would have thought of that thanks!
