My legend has started to have a static sound come over the speakers. It stays there whenever the stereo is on, however it remains at a constant volume, even if I turn up or down the volume. Any ideas where this sound could be coming from? I had the amp replaced by acura under the recall less than a year ago. I thought it could be coming in from my subs, but I removed the power to them and the static remained. Ideas??

It could be alternator whine, not grounded right, etc... Do you have aftermarket head unit? You said the amp was replaced under a recall, maybe the problem still exists?!

same thing happened to me a while back. heres how you fix it (bear with me here cause it seems silly). if it is the stock bose headunit, pop out your bass knob and give the end a good flick with your finger. i dont know why this works but it does....i would still like to know the cause of the static as well....because it comes back from time to time when it is cold out. hope that helps.

The two that I have seen...1st one, just simply connects between you RCA's. The other is more complicated and incorporates the power and ground wiring. The 1st one is definately the easiest for those that are running external amplifiers!

Couple of potential free solutions.

#1) (I think this was Qboro's solution) pop the bass and treble knobs out and lift up on them with your finger tips. not to the point of bending them, but crank on them till your finger tips hurt. Sometimes it makes it go away.

#2) (my solution, 100% success rate in my car) with the treble knob pushed into the "in" position, push it in with the edge of your finger, and roll your finger out of the way so that the knob goes from extreme "in" to full "out" with a snap ( be prepared to catch the plastic part of the knob, mine has shot off into the back seat a couple times). For whatever reason, it makes the static stop :headscrat

If it doesn't work, hey, it didn't cost anything to try it.

6 year bump!!! Woot!! Try fiddling with your bass/treble knobs as 4dr said and see if this affects the noise. Eventually the static will return and replacing hte stereo is the only permanent fix, unless you have experience with soldering on PCB's/diodes etc....

When that happens to me, I change my old Spark plugs and that fixes the problem for me.

If you have old spark plugs or cheap spark plugs, give it a try.
