I recently Acquired a fully loaded 1990 Sterling 827 Oxford Edition, which is essentially the same thing as a 1990 Acura Legend LS Sedan. I have owned 3 other legends before this, but the sterling is easily my favorite - however, I'm running into a very annoying problem - since the battery was dead when I bought it, the security system insists on the code for the stereo: My question is this: Does anyone know of a way to bypass this, and if there is not, what information do I need and who would I contact to get the code? Local Honda/Acura dealers seem to be clueless - I know it's a longshot, but I would REALLY appreciate anyone who could help

For a Sterling? I'm guessing Rover, would be your best shot. Maybe even (Ford?) would give you the right # to contact Rover?

I really have no other clue... where do you live? Do you have any pictures of the Sterling? What do you like about it?

Cool, a Sterling, and an Oxford Edition at that. Usually, one would contact the dealer for info like this. Obviously, Sterling dealers are hard to come by now. You might want to contact the manufacturer of the unit (my guess is that it is Becker, but it should say it right on the radio). Pull the unit out of the dash and look for the serial number and manufacturer. Good luck, and post some pics of the Sterling, please. :)

How's it look in person?
They look pretty nice, actually, not as square looking as the G1 sedan. The interior is excellent as well. I file it under "failed automotive ventures I'd like to own", right next to the Merkur Scorpio.

Not bad! It looked more modern than my 86 Legend, but not as new as a G2 legend. The one in the dealership was in excellent condition (it was an 827 coupe). If you want to know what it looks like..

Yeah, those hatchback ones are pretty slick. The sedan is just as nice though. There used to be a website called The Sterling Online that had a lot of pictures, but I can't find it now.

EDIT: I went to look for pictures of Sterlings, and found myself on the site where you got those pictures from. Here are a few more:

I went over to the yahoo Sterling forum one time, I requested that they could come visit us any time :)

Don't think they ever did come. They also experience some ticking noise (same engine), harsh AT shifts. They find it quite hard to come about HondaATF which they call Hondamatic. it was quite interesting.
