im curious cause this is something i want to try. my G1 coupe has a stock alarm. the orange flashing light is on the bottom half of the dash below and to the left of the steering wheel. i was wondering if i could tap in to the wiring and run another security warning light to the top of the dash near the vin #. u know so the alarm light is more visible. or even run another security warning light to my center console just near the emergency brake. would i need a fuse?? can this be done?? thanks

ya know thats a very good idea. i have been thinking about how dim that light was for years but never thought to do anything about it. I guess the most simple way would be to simply get an actual aftermarket alarm system and have them custom install it. Its fairly cheap and that way the little blinking LED would actually do somehting..besides honk the horn for 2 min.

But hey, if u figure out how to add on a LED, keep us posted...very good idea man!

yep, you should be able to head down to your local parts shop and pick up LED lights and tap right into the stock one. You don't need a fuse just tap into the exisiting LED. --=Keith

man its cool to hear u guys like this idea. its just that every time i lock my doors i make sure the alarm is armed. and during the day u cant even see that little orange light, under the dash. and not a lot of ppl know a G1 has an alarm system, so i want to expose that my car is armed. well i am gonna look into it so ill definitely let u guys know how it goes and what i did. what do u think about the locations of new LED's. so far im thinking on both sides of the dash mounted so u can see it through the windshield, and maybe on the center console near the emergency brake, or maybe even on the rear view mirror. any ideas...peace!

you know..ive seen a few cars with this weird light bar. Its about 4 inches long and really flat. When your alarm is armed, there is a blue led that blinks moving from side to side. That looks cool and it can be mounted anywhere. That looks better than an add on LED. Ill try to look for it onthe internet.

yeah those knight rider looking lights are cool, ive seen them around. but im not sure if our G1's alarm LED will make that thing blink.

Pep Boys carry them. About 20-30 bucks. 4-5 different styles. 3 wire hookup.
