It's a start...

I feel ya for not dropping big bucks the first time: gotta learn what you need and what's overkill.

I dropped a lot on my first build and the sub is total overkill... I like it though :)

you need to connect the remote turn on lead of the amp to a switched 12v source on the radio.

the radio has a 12v source (battery power, this is its memory and main power source)

and it also has a 12v switched source from the ignition when the key is in.
run a relay and use that as a switching source.

its the yellow/red wire on the oem radio harness.

Definitely one of my favorite setups.

I roll with a single JL 12W3v2 in a 1cu ft sealed enclosure and about 350W running to the sub and it's a lot of umph.

I really need to invest in better interior gear at some point: the sub is plenty powerful but I could use some better separation up front and of course, more power.

haha
i expected those reaction

for the person who asked

they're 10s

they are cheap ones
but they sound decent
and i wanted something to start off with
to see what I like
My friend has JL and he loves it, but to me its way overkill

I would like in dash dvd, but I dont see ones i like that are less than say $350-400
i would really prefer the in dash(not flip up ones)

And the switch wasnt my idea, it was my friends
but I like it because I dont always want bass, like if I'm listening to music that really doesnt sound good with bass.

Do they make tv's that can retrack themselves just like the dvd decks?

I went with 3 10's because I like Alternative as well as hip hop and as far as a dash unti goes you only need a pioneer. The pioneer lets you adjust High Pass/Low Pass Filters, EQ, Sub On/Off, and many more functions. Its the best bang for the buck and it has the best Tuner availible on the market.

Oh we got camel jokes huh.....I just noticed that Wyatt is dropping out of the A game and that Business man got his car looking like something out of a Paul Wall video (tight ass sh!t homie). yeah sorry guys I am out of commish for a bit wont be back until July to visit and then back here kissing camels and tossing dirt until December '08. But I dont want ot hi Jack this thread. Tell that man to get a Pionner and stop playin around with all that AudioVox crap. I promise you you wont spend a lot if ou go to the Pawn shop or the Flea Markets and you will get the sound you're looking for. Or go the Best Buy route like I did and pay a little more for a warranty (that will never be used).

I went balls out with my first system and probably paid about as much as you did. It helps paying attention to sales and eBay:D

As for your sounds, wow...coulda warned me the video was gonna be amped too  sounds like it beats. but 10s?:(

Oh Jeremy, 15s....as long as you get a box that can slide all the way back, will fit fine...

Mine didn't slide all the way back. so i lost a goo 30% worth of trunk floor simply from that.

I had/Have 15" MB Quart DWE 354s, XTANT 302a 2channel amp, stock headunit. i wired everything to run at about 600watts RMS. it pounded, but it wasn't done to pound. i wanted clean, tight, deep bass that could knock when i wanted it to. So it was stupid clean when i turned the bass down, but got indignant and loud when i cranked it up...

Made my friend's stomach upset :D.

Granted it wasn't the hardest hitting on the block, or at the Ft. Washington meet (that went to Cudaman with his dual amp setup 2 720s powering each 15" sub), it definitely held its own against most people out there. and when it came time to blast some Bombs over bahgdad or something with stupid kicks that can hang a sub up, mine shined through.

AS for the headunit. I liked the stock headunit! it was great, still wouldn't change my setup...other than completely remove the headunit and place just a touch screen monitor with no buttons on its face and do a Mobile PC system. The Stock headunit kept me safe from people breaking into cars...they hit everyone's car but mine. because of the stock headunit.

If there is a plus for stock head unit that would be it, but ask yourself...do you really want your car to sound like you have a trunk full of cans whenever you turn your volume up? I have my box ported through a custom baffle on the rear deck so that the bass flows through the cab. So with the windows up and the volume up the car bangs but doesnt rattle. With the windows down you can hear me down the block 'Beat'n Pictures off your wall'. Rather its Blink 182 or Dipset, and people are surprised by the setup only being 3 10's...trust me. Its about the setup not the biggest speakers you can fit in your trunk.

Photoshop gets me everytime..looks nice though.

I think the sound ended up being more amplified in the car than it was outside the car with it upside down. it kinda like made the bass way more pronounced inside the car than outside. which is why it could beat like crazy and you could hear it 3 blocks away with the windows open, but standing infront of the trunk it was "eh" standing outside the door would have your pants shaking and trembling..

To be quite honest though, aside from all that...that was the first way i was able to get it in the car:lol:, so i everytime i put it in, i just put it in that way.

Lane by far, To my knowlege, has the best set up, im looking to get somthing similar in the future. If i remember correctly it was somthing like 4 bills.
I'll tell you who had the best setup...

Fut

Fut's setup is the ultimate 15 in my humble opinion...even though it's more for SQ than SPL, his is perfect. Perfectly tuned too so it's not just willy nilly!

That's what inspired me to get 15s...
