Ok, I got two subs I have in mind. They are the Image Dynamics ID Max subs and the Eclipse aluminum 8000 serise subs. Now, for the real question. What's the diffrence between a single voice coil and a dual voice coil and any diffrence in sound out-put. Does one sound cleaner then the other? Which is best for SQ? Can the other work as well in SQ at the competitive level???

Thanks in advance.

the VC basically translates the magnet's energy to make the cone move. the main difference in having 2 versus 1 is that with 2, you have more options to wire the sub. you can wire the VC's in parallel or series to get different impedance. you can also wire the VC's independently to u'r amp. most people are moving towards dual VC's becuase of this. as for difference in SPL, i don't think there is much becuase it shouldn't effect the power handling of the sub with 1 or 2 VC's.
in my opinion go for DVC's if you have to cash. this way you can play around with different impedance.
i have 2 subs that have dual 4ohm VC's. with this setup, i wired the vc's in series to give me 8 ohms per sub. then i wired the 2 subs in parallel to get 4ohms. this seemed to work best for me.
hope that sheds a little light for ya. let me know if you have anymore questions. i'll try to answer them if can.

Thanks. Cuz I'm interested in buying danny's eclipse subs *SVC*(if he still has them as a pair) or getting the ID Max *DVC*.

So, if that refrence, there also would probably be not much of a diff in SQ output between the two. Just ease of wiring. Right?

DVC subs are not more expensive. It all depend on the brand/line of subs. Generally the company won't charge you more just because the subs are DVC. DVC are for configuration purposes at the most part. Having a DVC 2 is just like having a SVC 4 so it all boils down to configuration to fit your needs. No power will be lost or gain in either configuration with the exception if your amps max out at 1 or 2 ohms that's all up to the amp.

Does it really help to wire the voice coils independently to the amp. I have a Infinity Perfect 12.1D (the DVC version) that's sitting in my bedroom waiting for the box to be finished. Would I really benefit from running the wire separately to my mono amp. Thanks.

BTW, my mono amp is internally wired in parallel so they I see it is if I did that I would be running at 2ohms which would be fine since my amp is 2ohms stable.

u don't need 2 seperate sets of wires into the amp, just bridge them internally inside the box and then 1 set of wire into the post and then to the amp. There's no need for all those wires to hang around.

I'm not sure what u meant by your amp is internally wired in parralel, from my understand mono amps is a single channel built inside out some amps might have 2 speaker input externally but internally it's still 1 channel
