The other thread was not very active so this is a new one to get more response. Headers can be done with dyno or track results.
The cost will be apx.$500-10people or less, $400 or less for 20 people and more than that maybe 300 ish. No promises yet, but if some one can save me the time and money of driving to Denver for exhaust manifolds I will cut the cost of your headers. DV8- you have first dibs. I know you have the precious. PM me for my address. I could use my car as the labrat but I would rather have it running for the time being.

thanks guys for your support!
kyle :)

Post below on how definite you are on buying so we can get the best rates. I need to give this man the bus. for his hookup!

Hey guys,

I see that all of you have seen the turbo legend forum from my home town website. Well to back up that little comment about the civic pullin on me... it was a rolling start! Now usually you would throw up your hand and count down with your fingers. In this case he just took off (it really wasnt fair), and I figured I'd just go for it any ways. By then, he was already in front of me, so yes to him he beet me by however car lengths he said he did. So thats what happened. I do have to say though, that car was pretty quick, light (gutted hatch) as hell too. So i really dont know how it would of gone if it were a fair start. Oh yeah, plus his was a standard! Remember a he ran a 14.4 sec quarter which at sea level would be about a 13.6. that is one fast little car. Also to take into acount is that my car is not tuned yet(going in tom. for that), so my turbo didnt spool unitl later because of its size. We pulled on each other, it just depended on who floored it first and got boost. I am going to chat w/ him now if he is there.

I am using the AVCR and check valve! They plan to, but they need to fix it first so it performs flawlessly, and I feel it will need some work.

Call me if you like I can explain more, but this is my last post for awhile!

First off big props to Kyle for having the guts to go in and get his Legend turbo'ed. I do think it could have been done better, but at least it is done. It's a good start. I think they definitely need to fix the bumper, and tune the setup properly.

The megasquirt is a full standalone engine management system. As far as I know, you can't use the stock ecu or anything else with it. It does handle timing, ignition, spark, fuel and all aspects of engine control through. It is a inexpensive form of standalone ems, but tuning it will be more complicated than other standalones, as it is not widely supported/used. Most likely any tuner you take it to, will have to "learn" it first.

The AVC-R just regulates boost control, nothing else. The check valve is to prevent the check engine light and attempt to stop the ECU from seeing boost.

The engine management/fuel setup he has is SAFC, FMU (fuel management unit, or fuel pressure regulator), and I believe everything else is stock including stock ecu, stock fuel pump, and stock fuel injectors.

Which is the most crude way to run a forced induction setup.
The fuel management really caps the potential of the setup, with the FMU being the cut corner and handicap. I thought Joule would have done a better setup for the fuel than that, being that for the same cost you can do much better.

The FMU's main problem is that it adds fuel by increasing the static fuel pressure at the rail, rather than increasing injector pulsewidth. It is improbable that the AFR will be safe and constant throughout the engine RPM range. The FMU cannot tune by RPM, it's either dumping fuel or not. So at 6200 rpm in 4th at 6psi, it is dumping the same amount of fuel it does at 4000 rpm in 2nd at 6psi.

Also 6 psi of boost is well over 110 psi of fuel pressure with a 12:1 fmu. The stock injectors are designed to operate between 40-50 psi. I wouldn't trust the reliability over a long period of time of running 10+ year old injectors at more than double their normal operating pressure.

FMU's can be made to work for very low boost and you may get away with it by tuning extra rich to be safe. But for reliability or anything with higher boost, you can have a much better setup for not much more money.

A better setup would be a fuel pump, larger injectors, and the safc2 or even safc for most of the fuel tuning. With proper tuning on a wideband you should be able to run 10-12psi without problems imo. The safc 'hack' also may eliminate the need for a check valve. Just my thoughts and input.

I'm still jealous :D

I thought the megasquirt only managed fuel loads and can work as a standalone EFI unit. I didn't know it could manage spark timing etc. I actually read on the FAQ site and it said its only fuel management. But you can get everything you need for a tune at about $130 .
there is an upgrade to the original unit that allows you to do it. But seriously guys who's going to assemble this unit and start doing the R&D.

Someone who desperately needs an engine tune to run a safe N20 application ;) or FI.
Bah, i'm sick of this stuff, ill let the young ones sort it out. Besides im too busy. Nothing ive been able to do lately has been able to get all the power i make on the street/dyno translate on the strip, without spending endless amounts of cash. If its fast to me i guess thats all that matters. I'll be a dyno queen of Legends for now.

Hey guys, I am back!

Car went to Joule that Monday after I left. It should have been done Monday night, but I picked the car up Fri. and it was not done. About half of the things were fixed that I had listed for repair. I am going to fix the other problems myself. Does anyone know where to get a wiring diagram for the avcr(prob for an NSX because there is nothing for our cars)? The blow-off valve is on now, and I have not thrown a check engine light yet so I am guessing that the check valve is in also, but I will know better when I go down to OU to see my gf. The car may react to the altitude differently. I do have a walbro fuel pump btw, and the safc is tunned. When I fix the ex. leaks the spooling prob. will also be fixed. I have had a second opinion on spooling issues and there are solutions, but those should be updated soon.
If you want more details, just ask! I am heading down it OK so if anyone wants a ride give me a call!

Yea, who ever wants to go. It is a mini meet then! The bumper is almost done, fiberglassed but needs filler and paint. I will post pics when done.
I will call you when I leave Fri night or sometime before.

Can we get a shot of your manifolds? Are you using the stock ones with piping routed from the collecter back around to the turbo? If so that is probably your lag problem.

Any more pics with more details?

Where do the Wastegates go??? You have 2-1 piping to turbine housing, but where is the wastegate(s)??? BOV??? Where would it be located on that set up??? They actually ran 2.5in intercooler piping under radiator support and back up??? One more thing, The turbo downpipe(3in?), How the hell did they get it back down and out without going too far down??? :eek2: :giggle:
MAD props brother for current yet confusing set-up!!!!!!

Sweet! We have a meet prob Sat. afternoon or Sunday around noon. I will call Tnelson and we can talk about it. I just got the blow off valve on from the second trip back to Joule. It goes by the tb about 6inches from it. I will get better pics. The manifolds loop around from the back to the front. This is prob my lag problem, and my exhaust leaks is why I am taking those off and doing them myself with a much more efficient setup. I will get dynoed when I have time soon-I just kinda ran out of funds.

if the turbo and piping is sized correctly there should be no lag. The wastegate should be right after the down pipe collector.
