Someone who desperately needs an engine tune to run a safe N20 application ;) or FI.
Bah, i'm sick of this stuff, ill let the young ones sort it out. Besides im too busy. Nothing ive been able to do lately has been able to get all the power i make on the street/dyno translate on the strip, without spending endless amounts of cash. If its fast to me i guess thats all that matters. I'll be a dyno queen of Legends for now.

Hey guys, I am back!

Car went to Joule that Monday after I left. It should have been done Monday night, but I picked the car up Fri. and it was not done. About half of the things were fixed that I had listed for repair. I am going to fix the other problems myself. Does anyone know where to get a wiring diagram for the avcr(prob for an NSX because there is nothing for our cars)? The blow-off valve is on now, and I have not thrown a check engine light yet so I am guessing that the check valve is in also, but I will know better when I go down to OU to see my gf. The car may react to the altitude differently. I do have a walbro fuel pump btw, and the safc is tunned. When I fix the ex. leaks the spooling prob. will also be fixed. I have had a second opinion on spooling issues and there are solutions, but those should be updated soon.
If you want more details, just ask! I am heading down it OK so if anyone wants a ride give me a call!

Later K

Yea, who ever wants to go. It is a mini meet then! The bumper is almost done, fiberglassed but needs filler and paint. I will post pics when done.
I will call you when I leave Fri night or sometime before.

Can we get a shot of your manifolds? Are you using the stock ones with piping routed from the collecter back around to the turbo? If so that is probably your lag problem.

Any more pics with more details?

Where do the Wastegates go??? You have 2-1 piping to turbine housing, but where is the wastegate(s)??? BOV??? Where would it be located on that set up??? They actually ran 2.5in intercooler piping under radiator support and back up??? One more thing, The turbo downpipe(3in?), How the hell did they get it back down and out without going too far down??? :eek2: :giggle:
MAD props brother for current yet confusing set-up!!!!!!

Sweet! We have a meet prob Sat. afternoon or Sunday around noon. I will call Tnelson and we can talk about it. I just got the blow off valve on from the second trip back to Joule. It goes by the tb about 6inches from it. I will get better pics. The manifolds loop around from the back to the front. This is prob my lag problem, and my exhaust leaks is why I am taking those off and doing them myself with a much more efficient setup. I will get dynoed when I have time soon-I just kinda ran out of funds.

if the turbo and piping is sized correctly there should be no lag. The wastegate should be right after the down pipe collector.

like some people on this board would agree, if youre having trouble with funds then dont be afraid to ask for some help, im sure people are willing to contribute to a project like this even if it's not on their cars.

That is true DV8, but you should see the sized of my turbo and the piping. Ex. leaks are pretty bad so that just may be the only problem. If people want to contribute I will have dyno runs up in a jiffy! I have nothing against that.
Thanks for the suggestion!

hey kyle, if you wanna run it on a dyno, i can get you dyno runs cheap here. Like 40 bux for 3 pulls. and im sure chris could squeeze you in, he is usually not busy(yes i am on first name basis with my dyno guy)

There is always going to be some "lag" felt on a well sized turbo, especially with an automatic. If you size the turbo so small as to build boost from idle up, it will be well out of its efficiency range by the top of the rpm range. The best setup for performance is usually a compromise of the low end where the turbo runs at its peak efficiency range during the 2nd third to the end of the rpm range.

However if the lag is really bad it is most likely due to issues with the setup. The exhaust leaks are most likely the problem, and there could be a boost leak somewhere, check all the charge piping, ic, bov, wastegate, etc. It's one of the most common reasons for bad lag. Pretty stupid of Joule to not correct these issues for you?

Also once the AVC-R is hooked up and tuned properly, it should reduce lag quite a bit. It allows the wastegate diaphram to hold shut until peak set boost level is reached, reducing lag. It also has a duty cycle gain setting, to control how fast boost builds at different rpm.

Theres methods to reduce turbo lag. Thermal wrap on the exhaust manifolds/turbine, etc helps alot, bigger downpipe/exhaust, smaller charge pipes, smaller vacuum lines, setting the boost controller duty cycle correctly, if you have other engine management options you can set up a 2 step rev limit launch, play with timing, ignition cut & retard which is how the anti-lag feature on the aem ems works, by allowing unburnt fuel to ignite in the exhaust manifolds, increasing thermal energy and spooling the turbo up.

With your auto you can just try to brake torque off the line to build boost even before launch, that should get you off the line quicker.

The first thing I would do is fix your exhaust leaks, any boost leaks, get the avc-r tuned, and you should have good spool after this. Then go to the dyno and fine tune everything especially the A/F while you have a wideband available, and show us some nice numbers :)
