I have not thrown a CEL since I replaced this vac hose the other night! I think that may have been the problem. The old one was brittle and had broke. I might try to dyno in parker fri. I am not sure though.
Lata, Kyle
240whp is my guess.

But what do you think its true potential is once everything is fixed and properly tuned??

What about tq?

I personally think I will be around what DV8 estimated. It really seems to depend on the day(hot or cold). I think the potential as it sits if fully tunned is arround 300-330 crank if the boost is turned up. After that HG and injectors will be a necessity along with a few other things!

Peace K

220-230whp is where i would put it with its current state of tune.

right around 300whp with conservative tuning is where i would put it. but ofcourse with just a bit preventive maintanence, like probably a fresh HG and taller (my word for better flowing) injectors, you could have around 350-360whp on that turbo.

With the way Kyle's turbos piping is set up i dont think he'll see more than 260WHP which equates to 325 flywheel HP-20% loss(auto). However thats tops. i'm going to stick with 240WHP guess. TQ should be close but below the HP, so around 230lbft

these numbers are good enough for a mid to low 14 second run in our car.

you make a good point on the piping. that's one thing i cant see though. Is it like a SUPER sharp 180° turn? or is it like just nominal where it kinda bows out then cuts back aorund?

if it's supersharp then i would have to agree in that the EMP may start to get way too high and then cause some reversion.

I had just 10-13% loss between the wheels and crank. The dyno guys were impressed! What are the stock injectors rated at flow wise?

Thx K
Compared to what? what did you dyno?

injectors are about 240-250 cc

I think he is saying that he only lost 13% between crank to wheel HP
To get an exact figure you have to use an engine dyno and then a chassis dyno. I think he was asking how he got the %age since he probably didnt have access to an engine dyno.

I was basing that off of stock ratings. I only had a short ram and 3 inch so I am guessing my loss is actually less. I have 65% of the (200/200) factory rated hp and tq which equates to 130/140 lil more tq up at my altitude...well Parkers altitude. So if I could get 170/180@ the wheels up here + or - a few, that would mean that at the wheels at sea level I would have 230/243 hp/tq
That would be at 5.8 lbs of boost. That is just an estimate though, and I doubt the ability of this kit to spool on a dyno run. I still think that full boost comes in at 3rd and 4th gear. I plan on trying to boost it until it explodes to see our limits. HG will be made and installed along w/studs before this happens.

Peace K

you dont understand, a 13% drive train loss on a legend is unheard of. its actually pretty unheard of on most cars. with a manual your are looking at 15% and auto is more like 18-25%

I do understand! I am basing those figures purely off of dyno results compared to factory ratings. That means 20-26 hp/ftlbs loss from the drive train. Like I said that was with 3inch catback w/ a hi flo cat and a short ram intake. I also have full synthetic oil which eliminates parisitic loss but what the hay. Maybe those mods gave me some UMPH or that the dyno was inaccurate. Who knows if acura underrates their cars. GM does that all of the time. I am just putting my results down on threads. I know what typical losses are, and you(DV8) are right as far as the general aspect goes. I was supprised myself. I am estimating after further looking into sim. setups that I have more like 220/230ish with my setup at the wheels(if I were at sea level).

Thx K

But, you have to base part of your math on a assumption. The assumption that your motor is making exactly 200HP at the time of the dyno run, and that the dyno is correctly calibrated. Unless you pull your motor and dyno it on a stand, you can never be sure of your actual drivetrain loss.

that is also on ~10 seperate dyno runs,(3 times dynoing, multiple runs each)

with different mods, as well as knowing how much mods would change stuff, a lot of math went into estimating it.

sorry guys just found out about this tread.. hehhe mad props... i was about to start my turbo project but if your turbo is fine i will pick one up from joules but i was worried about the piping set up... do you have any probs with it? and can i get price from you or do i contact joules i do have the number so i can do it...

i just need the parts i can handle the install here in LA. any information would be appriciated. and i was wondering if there was a kit would it be "better" made then yours condering that yours was a prototype? basically will it be a really good bolton... i was also wondering what type of kit is it and what cars was it for originally... please pm , email anything... i am for sure going to do the tranny sway now then turbo!!!

If you get a kit try and get them to make turbo exhaust manifolds. He's having trouble spooling and that would help.

yeah that is what i was thinking when i asked about all the stuff... cause i wanna get it done right the first time... i was wondering where the intake manifold was and then i saw there was none... well the stock one... hehehe... kyle if you can keep us updated i would really appreciate it!
