Maybe you know this:

There are 2 kinds of redline oil - the MTL and MT 90. The MTL is a 75W oil and eventhough it meets the requirements of the 10W oil, it presents faster wearout of the synchros and leads to clutch slippage as well over time.

MT90 is the lesser evil of the two. It is the one that is more suited for our cars.

Of course, if you want another option, then use Acura MTF ( manual transmission fluid). It is not the stock 10W30 engine oil but made for transmission purposes. Its not synthetic but it will keep the gearbox happy.

Yes, I actually notice the syncros working less effectivly after I changed to MTL. So is the MT 90 a thicker oil? I assume it provides more bite for the syncros.

Yes,

Both the Acura dealer and local Red Line products distrubuter concure that MT 90 is the right oil to use for our cars.

If you already use MTL, there is no need to panic and change it immediately. But do change it when you do the next oil change or service.
