Due to decisions made by AutoGuide.com, this site has ceased to be about the car, the people, and the community and has now turned into a commercial, corporate money grab.

That is not what I signed up for back in 2003. I am about connecting with like-minded individuals that share the same passion and commitment to the Legend.

I refuse to enforce AutoGuide's rules, and no longer can I participate here while they rape what was once a great community-based forum.

I am leaving to the new site and I am taking all of my contributions with me. They do not belong to you they are NOT your intellectual property per your TOS (a screen shot can and will be provided if needed). They belong to ME, the original author. And as the original author, I am hereby publicly stating that YOU DO NOT HAVE MY PERMISSION to go into your cache and restore my old threads and/or contributions.

Maybe someday I'll return...when the traffic here has died to nothing and you abandon the URL...but I will only return when this forum is no longer owned by you or any of your cronies.

It's been a great ride guys...see you on the other side.

WTF i work at a Kragen and not only do i know what a tranny filter is without being ase certified in parts, i would expect all my cashiers to know that basic info aswell.

hilarious.... some hondas (according to my parts database) actually have a filter that can only be replaced "when the transmission is dissembled", meaning there is no pan gasket... and the filter is not that easy to change i guess.

I don't know if what to say. That is a great and sad story all at once. So many people rely on the dealership to be the experts. They won't forget about that part in the future....but may not change their habits because their P&L will take a hit if they start changing out strainers rather than rebuilding/replacing trannys.

Dealer's suck, when I had just bought my car, I went to get service, then about a week later I got a nail in my tire, took it to get fixed, then the guy at the tire shop is like "man, this tire ain't no good" and sure enough that tire, plus 2 others were cracked on the inside walls, the wires were showing and everything... I got new tires the next day. So I was just thinking, didn't the dealer lift my car when they did service on it, and when they checked brakes and brake rotors, didn't they take off the tires??? man, you would think that they would let you know that your tires are about to blow as soon as you get on the freeway!!! When I went to get my seat belt replaced, the damn bolt came off like in two days... :wtf: took it back and they were like "umm.. :hide: yeah, we'll talk to the service tech... and have it fixed"

I had the same experience with two Acura dealers here; they tried to convince me that there is no easily replaceable filter and only a transmission repair shop can replace the filter thats inside the transmission.

yea, working there for five years dont mean anything... legends havent been made in like 11-12. lol

but yea, some people dont look outside the box and their knowledge is only based on what they can see on the computer screen. but then again, thats what most dealerships are right?

/\ werd, i'd have to agree. if they are both there not too long. they don't know that shit. which is what sux. the current tech's have no idea how to work on our cars, they don't know all little things WE know and the techs trained on to work on Legends. I would have loved to be a tech 15years ago and learning how to work on a 6spd legend. haha.

good stuff, its sad to know that the service manager hasn't been tehre long enough, and doesn't know things like that about the cars they are suppose to know. Hopefully they have a few older tech's working tere, who get the legends funneled to them.

Thats the thing I like about the dealership near my house Pauly Acura in Highland Park, atleast the Parts and Service guys know our cars. Althou the parts manager, did NOT remember that the GS used a coupe lower radiator hose b/c of the typeII mounts, but atleast recalled something was different and asked me.

My mechanic, proud to say it. is a Korean speaking Hatian, who worked in Korea as a mechanic, and has been a mechanic for the past 15 years, hes a young guy, hard as hell working and honest. and for some reason hes amazing with acura's hes rebuilt several of them in the past couple years, (engine wise) and there was never a question i had that he could not answer w/o! a cpu :p

I used to work at a dealer. They don't know shit. Especially about a car that hasn't been made since 1995. "Awe, you've been working here 5 years? That's cute, my car is probably as old as you? Whats up?" I'm glad I drive a standard shift and do my own maintenance. Effin stealerships.

Yeah I hear you guys....the sadest things about this dealership is:

1) Whenever I go there, I usually see at least one or two G2's in for service...probably old folks that can afford it, and the G2's are almost always in mint condition...who knows wtf kinda butchering one of these mint cars may undergo one day :(

2) This is NOT the first "I'm smarter than you" run-in I have had with this dealership...

+1. If it is not a oil change or a regular service, don't take your car to the dealer. It is nothing but a waste of time and money. All they do is charge you three hours of laybor (@$90 an hour!!!!!! ) to tell you "we think its this but we have to run more tests." :wtf: :horse:

UPDATE:

Just thought I'd do a little Sting (obviously very bored at work ) to see what happens if I ask for this same part....

The parts guy was clueless, the service manager (BRAD!!! THE SAME GUY!!) wanted me to bring my car in to have the transmission diagnosed...

I told him I didn't need it diagnosed...I needed to service my car with new fluid and a new filter (strainer)..."well we can do that for you also if that's what you'll need..."

:bs:

I just wanted to know how much the part is!! So after reading the part number....I got a NEW price of $51....not in stock, special order...

Damn you inflation and sagging American Dollar!!!

Anyhow....just thought you guys would like the update...
