Ok, i've been searching the forum and am a little confused about flushing and draining the Tranny. Which is the best way. Is it the 4X method described here or should i drain the fluid and fill with Honda ATF 3 times every 3000 miles?

I would say that it depends on how bad the symptoms are right now. If your tranny is not acting up right now then go ahead and change the fluid with each oil change the next 3 or 4 times (or every other oil change). If it's not doing well, then I'd opt for the immediate benefit of the 4X change.

There's a parallel thread on the same topic. Some people don't want to put the Ford ATF because they're afraid it might loosen up too much stuff. If you're concerned about that, then use regular ATF instead but do it the recommended 4X. I had my 160K tranny on my coupe done by a fluid exchange machine with no problem. The hardest part was finding the SmartBlend or LubeGuard.
