Hey all, I was driving back from my girl friends house on the northern state pkwy when my attention shifted to the rpm gauge. It was around 5000 rpm when I was doing 65 - 70. I knew if i floored then the tranny or the motor is toast so I went slow. This happened to me before and I was suspecting the solenoids on the tranny. Anyhow I was sick of only doing 65 and therefore put it in the "S" mode and then the needle just went way passed the 8000 rpms and I thought there goes my car. I hit my brakes and switched it back to the Drive and drove slowly. Couple of minutes later the tach. was back to normal and I didnt have any problems of the needle going into the redzone.

Scary but I suspect that the car stayed in the 3rd gear and wasnt shifted into the 4th and that is why it was at high rpms. Either that or it could be anything.

Dont these sound like the symptoms of bad solenoids? or what else could cause that.
P.s. how much are the solenoids and how much labor is involved.

Thanks guys
