I know, from a previous post, that from '88 forward the transmission is computer controlled. Is this a separate computer from the main and if so where is located and how can one perform diagnostics?
In a post " I'am an idiot that needs help" Peabodyn reported
"These cars are so electronic - could it be that either the ECU or the transmission computer has "thrown a circuit breaker" due to the speed you were travelling at? "
Your comments Guys.

on the 88 Coupe the At computer is located next to the ECU. Look under the carpet in the passenger seat footwell, if you pull back the carpet you'll see your ecu window (hopefully the led should not be blinking), next to it there is another window withe AT on it - thats the diagnostic window for the tranny.

cheers
