Thanks in advance for any help. I am reconnecting my auto transmission to my type 2 in a 94 GSD. There is a vacume line out of the center top of the transmission. I took many pictures but can not find a good photo of where it was connected prior to taking out the engine. I also cannot find its mate on the back of the engine.

That's a vent hose for the trans, doesn't really connect to anything. Just there to vent any air pressure in the trans. housing that occurs as the trans gets hot during use.

Thanks man. That certainly explains the problem in connecting it. I appreciate the quick help.

Don't plug the vent or you will have excess pressure in the tranny when the fluid expands at operating temp.

They say it may cause the fluid to airerate, but I have not seen it happen personally.
