Turbo-Supercharger-NOS

:p I discussed this matter with DV8 earlier, however there are more questions. Does anyone have or know of any legends that have been Turbocharged by forceairtech? How fast are they? I know custom kits run 4.5K and 6k if intercooled. How strong are our internals, crank, rods, bolts, pistons. I have heard stock head gaskets will withstand 8PSI which is about 120 aditional hp on a 200hp engine. Please give me some imput.

i think 95% of the people here just dont think the Legend is worth their money. not for mods like these...i wish more real people would come forward and do it. im broke i mean really broke we have some people here that can afford it but wont so....draw your own conclusion
Why?

 Why?Why? Why? What will we do? What do you guys figure your average monthly budget is towards your cars? I myself have been contemplating either a turbo charged legend o0r a 430hp firebird- I made a challenge to race a BMW m3 333hp and a subaru 2.5gt 275hp each for 100$ What should I do with 5K dollas
Forget about the stock head gaskets, they are crap. Get some new copper head gaskets, and get a custom made turbo, but you will have to lose something (like your AC) to have it fit in. Thats the main problem...space.
mmmm

Robert at forcedairtech said that all my acc. would be left as is, however there would probably be battery relocation. Does anyone know the limits of this engine after the gaskets have been replaced by copper ones. This is a T3/T4 turbo, and supposedly there are legends roaming the streets of Az with this setup.

They turbo charged a G1 legend, not a G2. I don't think forceairtech have ever even seen the G2 engine bay. If they've seen the G2 engine bay, there will definitely be more things that have to be moved or removed.

Beside majority population of this forum really don't care about power, I know I don't. You want something fast, you're better off just getting the 400hp bird.
who wants power?

C'mon:****: Who dosnt want power? I personally called this guy and asked him about this kit with enough details to drive me crazy. If you want here is the # to ask him (Robert) for yourself(623-516-1970)The reason this is my car of choice is because all it needs is more power, the firebird needs the whole shabang.
Also, the turbo G1 Legend Coupe that Forced Air Tech built was a custom. They don't have a kit. Its all custom fabricated.
It was about the G2 by the way:2cool:
my bad

True that the G1 is custom however same as for the G2 which is another downside for this CUSTOM turbo setup. He does need the car in Az where he fabricates the kit. The prices listed are for custom installed turbos with 6PSI about 100hp gain, and I dont know how long this takes, Iguess enjoy a vacation!!
A turbo is easy. Engine management is a whole nother story. Plus you need to upgrade the tranny and axels and have phantom grip do a custom differential for you. Toatal cost would probably be close to $10K. If you don't have that kind of cash hanging around forget about it.
turbo on a sedan? imo i wouldnt do anything to a 4door but make it more luxorious. on the other hand, if i owned a coupe i would go w/ turbo if i had the money.

i think dv8 is running a sedan. you can make em fast. same engine and engine bay, so if you can put it in one, you can put it in the other.

i think lack of money is a big thing. i personally would love more power, but no funds right now.

You shouldn't have to lose A/C. We have plenty of engine bay space as long as you get rid of your battery and move it to the trunk. That opens up so much room!

I have been wanting to do this for so long, but just don't have the real experience that it would take to make this happen. My Legend is my first car, and I'm 18. I'm learning a lot, but I don't have what it takes yet to fabricate a supercharger for the Legend.

I had talked about it with a local friend, but he is out of the country now. And I'm not sure that we would have the time to do it. A project like this takes a lot of time and a lot of time not being able to drive your car. Your Legend would need to be a second car.

I also know, that I for one, am waiting for my 167,000 mile engine to give before I would seriously consider doing this project. When I get my next engine, most likely a JDM... I would throw in copper headgaskets and possibly get some other work done. Then drop the engine with headers and do the supercharger all at the same time. This probably won't happen though for a couple more years.

ya thats tru. i guess it all really depends on personal preference. just my opinion tho, dont really see a sedan legend as a practical "race car". id rather go w/ coupe or buy back my MA70. rnt all legend sedans auto?

OH MY NO...GS sedan comes in 6 speed, and EVERY model of sedan from 86-95 came in Manual Transmission, so the Legend. so see, the Legend was considered a Sport Luxury sedan just like the BMW 5-series of the same era.

you laugh, but you best reconize. im just playin, yeah, L and LS had a 5 speed option and the GS had a 6 option. saw a gs 6 for sale the other day. yeah, they really are the original sports sedans. along with the max.
you could make it fast(for 3.2 L and 3500 lbs.)

Never hurts to dream

:)

wish i had all of the above.
Well in my opinion it doesn’t make sense to invest that kind of money on power etc. On a platform that isn’t receptive and the ratio of the amount of hp per dollar is stunted compared to other applications. I would rather spend the cash on a purpose built sports car like the NSX/Skyline/Silvia/WRX/Supra/RX7 etc. for instance and keep the Legend for what it was built for a sport luxury car. I don’t dissuade others from trying, but it doesn’t make sense in my opinion to throw away that kind of money and not get the kind of results I could see elsewhere on superior sporting platforms.
