  :(
As some of you know, my 89 sedan kicked the bucket in April. I figured I'd save a few bucks here and there and put a JDM engine in it. Then, I found a sweet little 87 coupe 5spd for $425.00. Too good to pass up.
Wednesday, I was on my way back from Orlando (about 30 miles) and the oil light came on. The "Scheduled Service Due" light, on the information center had been on for about a week or so, and I knew it was time for an oil change. I figured, this was the issue. I dropped a quart in it. Light went out. No problem.
The next day, on I-95, the oil light came on. I have a leak, but, it's a small, slow leak. I stopped, checked the oil, and the level was fine. Back on the interstate. A few minutes later, I realized I was smoking. Badly. Smoke was even in the cabin. Waited about 10 minutes, started right up, and off I went. No more smoke, no more anything, except the light and service due notice. I checked the ECU. No blinks. On the way back, it stopped running, at about 80 MPH. I coasted to a stop, started it right back up, and went again. Stopped running again. A friend told me the timing belt was shot. Today, we took it off. about 8 teeth missing. When we took the valve cover gaskets off, the heads were BONE DRY!
We are guessing that the oil pump stopped working, and that was why the light was on. By the way, between the smoking, and the stopping, I stopped and had the oil/filter changed.
So, now, I have 2 Acura Legend anchors.
I can get an engine at the local "U-Pull-It" for about $200. My question is, if I replace the short block, heads, oil pump, TB/h20 pump, bearings and rods, should I have anything else to worry about. Also...I read the thread about engine swapping. At least the first day it was posted. I know I can only change out the engine from a coupe, to a coupe, but...can I change just the lower end from a sedan to a coupe? Kind of sucks that I can't put a 90 engine in it. There's one at the local yard with a nice engine, the rear end is a total waste. As always, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. jessie

The one I'm going to start with is the 87 coupe. So, I'm pretty sure that the 90 won't butt up to the tranny. If I can put the tranny and motor from a 90 in my 87, then, no problem.

"88' 90'? As long as the engine is a c27a, it will fit a trans bolted to it, manual or automatic. If the engine is a 2.5(c25a) then it won't. heads, blocks, pan, on a c27a they are all the same." Posted by bigonion

Unless anyone knows of a reason why this shouldn't be done, this is the premise by which I am working on.
