I'm thinking about swapping in a type 2 engine and six speed tranny into my sedan. I'm wondering what else I'd need to replace, ie. shifter, speedometer, tach, etc. If I can get away with just replacing the engine and tranny it would make things very nice and hopefully speed up the project a little bit. Any help will be appreciated.

if ya got a 5spd then it should be real easy swap. youve got all the mounts you just need a different chip, cluster, type 2 engine & 6spd tranny. Im not to sure on the wiring harness.

Yes, the Type II uses a different cluster than the TypeI. The speedo goes up to 160mph instead of 140mph and the redline is at 6700RPM instead of 6300Orpm.

If you're going to do it, I have a TypeII cluster sitting around, $100+shipping

Thanks for offering and I'll think about it. Right now I'm just pricing things out and seeing what it will cost me. I have about $800 in my car fund right now and I'm adding to it as much as possible so hopefully this will happen sooner than later. I do have to buy books for school so it's going to be set back a couple hundred dollars pretty soon. I'll definately keep you in mind though.
