Well my new baby with over 200k on it started smoking today. Because I run synthetic, it makes it hard to tell if it is oil or water. It is not real bad yet, but I already have started to sell all my old turbo stuff. I am looking for somewhere to get a type II motor... anyone know who has the best deals?

It shouldn't be that hard to tell what it is that's smoking. Just put your hand in the smoke and if it condenses into water then you're burning coolant. If it's blue it's oil, etc. etc.

I think you are missing the point... I can care less. It is a good reason to replace the motor period. Labor will not be too bad as I work at a shop. I am just asking if anyone knows a place other than Ebay to buy with good prices. Makes more sense to me to just replace it with a lower milage motor than to invest money in the one in it

Hmm well again. The thread asked for someplace that sells Type II motors. I do not recall anything asking about what the smoking could be. But thanks for the input... I just did not want this thread to turn into "why is my car smoking?" Thats all. But again thanks for the help

Okay. Best place I know of is EBAY so I guess I'm not much more help than that. Sorry.

I agree with the ebay option for an engine as well just do good research on the company you choose thought. Engine R us has a good reputaion though.

It is weird. I work for a shop, but Ebay is still cheaper than my cost through one of our vendors

Check locally with some Jap auto repair shops.
They should know where to find a JDM engine locally.
I've heard bad things from people buying them on eBay.

Nm I found out about the tranny. I have been searching and found this. Correct me if I am wrong but I really just need the motor...and IF I can find one... a type II ECU for an automatic right? I am planning on replacing the mounts since I was in there anyways

you work at a shop and you cant tell if its oil or coolant being burned?:nutkick: Why are you so quick to assume it needs a whole new motor.. Many things can cause smoking besides just throwing in a whole new motor.. have you done a compression test yet?

well flat out it is oil... I saw it in the mirror and said "something is coming out,,, good time for a swap" Again... maybe it does not NEED a new motor... but maybe I WANT one.

The reason I pointed out I did not know what is was is cause Synthetics smell and look a little different when burned. Hell Redline does not even realy smoke if it is in a car. Many car lots use synthetics to hide bad rings,,,valve guides ect.


Agian to everyone... if you wanna find out what is wrong with the motor so bad I will sell it to you. I am intrested in the swap aspect of this

Do a search for "jdm swap" "engine swap" etc.

There are threads on where to buy engines. Where not to buy engines. What is required for a Type II swap. What is required in terms of swapping emissions. It's all there.

This has all been covered many times, I find it hard to believe you searched.

You really don't need to make a new thread just to argue with people.
