Well that was a nice feeling

Let me start off by saying, one of the events I look forward to is taking my car for an oil change at either of the Acura dealerships, I often take it a couple thousand km's earlier than it has to be taken.

Today I pulled up to the front glass wall of Northwest Acura in Calgary, and walked in and went to the service desk and checked in my car. They informed me to just drive down to the service bay and they could help me there. As I walked back to my car, I noticed a few salespeople inside the dealership gathering together, my curiously got the best of me and I evedropped

"Wow, you don't see to many of those anymore!" (there are very few legend coupes in calgary, in 8 months, I have seen maybe 6 or 7)

the olther salesmen responds:

"Beautiful car wasn't it?... What nice lines"

At that second, my seeping head gasket, leaking valve seals, and slipping clutch seemed irrelevant. (I hope to do the 3.5RL Swap in May, along with replacing the clutch with a 6-puck sport clutch)

On the other side of things, the car seems to run nicer after some Quaker WInter synthetic.

I remember last time I took the car to this dealership, I came out and had 4 of the service guys outside looking at it! Surprising since it had been serviced at this dealership for the last 9 years!

Awesome Neil. It's true what you say, clean Legends are few and far between. Makes the ownership experience that much more rewarding when your car is recognized by others who appreciate it for what it is. Glad to hear the coupe is still treating you well and getting looks wherever she goes.

I usually get a pretty good reception at the dealerships. I wish I had a hidden cam on the service advisor at the Las Vegas Acura dealership last Saturday when I showed up for an oil change. I had pulled up in the service drive and gotten out of the car so he could take down some information. He sketched something from the VIN on his clipboard and then sat in the driver's seat to take down mileage. I swear he must have been staring at the gauges for a solid 10 seconds.. twice... before he stepped out of the car, turned to me and said, "Is that for real?" Hahaha... Priceless.

Yeah, was going through some construction (where the guys flip the Slow/Stop signs for one lane at a time), and the dude is staring and pointing at my car with a smile. I turn down the radio and roll down the window to hear "Hey man....how much you sell that for?" I explained it wasn't for sale, and he shared that he had a coupe he wrecked but missed, etc, etc.
It's nice to have a car people recognize and desire even though its 15 years old.

It is a great feeling... my favorite compliment was a uniformed military officer catching my attention while I sat in traffic waiting to get onto one of the major highways into DC (I imagine he was headed to the Pentagon) and he said it was a beautiful car (i'd just detailed it and I must admit, it did look damn good at the time).

I considered it a huge compliment given he was driving around in a beautiful condition late 60s MGB convertible I'd been gawking at from a distance myself until I'd just then when I happened to catch up and find myself next to him.

the dealership here doesnt seem to have much respect for my legend. but its usually not very clean. i went to the parts desk to ask about those kotter pins on the valves (i lost HALF of one redoing my heads). it took a long time just to get across what car i had, and more incredulous responses when i explained the work i was doing. 'dude he should just get a TL...' was heard from confused parts guys.

Just means they have no idea about the Legend... anyone I've ever met who has actually driven the Legend has the same thing to say about newer Acuras: it basically amounts to "they're great cars but they aren't my Legend"

indeed, yupppiesss!!!!!! nah, im really young too legend is my first car but i have driven several other cars, a renault laguna, a mercedes c320, porsche cayman, mercury minivan, lexus ls 430 and though all of them shifted nicer, i still like my legends combination of ride comfort and handling
