Hey all,
I was reading that post about elusive legends - the turbo 2 litre model, and the link took me to Carfolio.com. I looked up the 2.7 model out of interest and got some interesting figures for our car:

Max. output 177.0 bhp (132 kW)
@6000 rpm
Max. torque 228.0 nm (168 lbft) (23.3 kgm)
@4500 rpm
Max. rpm
Specific output 66.2 bhp/litre
1.08 bhp/cu in
Specific torque 85.23 nm/litre

What gives, I thought we had 161 Hp stock?

I've seen different HP estimates for JDM Legends, which I was told were due to different emissions setups between US and JDM cars, could this explain this figure?

Does anyone know if non Us market legends do differ?

Any ideas?

JOSE3030, thanks for the reply. In earlier posts you have commented that my coupe looks JDM, it's an australian release.
Does that mean that my coupe makes 177 horses?
An australian website with specs etc also gives this figure, I just assumed they got it wrong...

cheers

Do you have a catalytic converter where you are at?

The 177hp is gotten from taking the catalytic off, and the higher grade octanage available in Japan.

Some of you almost got it right;)

Due to lower quality gas in the US, the compression ratio of the engine was lowered for the American market. I live in Norway and own an imported Legend from Texas. The manual states that it takes 86 octane or higher. Over here you can't get anything lower than 95 octane (the other grades are 97 and 98). Due to stricter emissions regulations in the US, cats were standard equipment earlier than in eg Europe. So here's the lowdown.

Acura Legend 2.7L - 161 hp.

(sold everywhere else than in America)->

Honda Legend 2.7L - 177 hp without cat (factory standard).

Honda Legend 2.7L - 169 hp with cat (factory standard).

In Europe cars weren't required to have cats until 1989, which means every 2.7L Legend sold before 1989 has 177 hp stock!

Now the interesting thing would be to find out what the exact differences between the Honda and the Acura engine is. Can the Acuras be converted to JDM/Euro specs? Higher compression ratio with different seal + different (reset?) ECU + higher octane fuel? (Of course I'm already using 95 octane as that's as low as it gets over here...)

As for the Aussie Legend, find out if cats were required in Australia when u're car was sold or ask u're local dealer. If it hasn't got a cat u've got 177 hp u lucky b***ard! :)
