Similar problem on our old coupe. Where do I connect the amp meter again, is it the negative battery terminal to the negative cable (create a bridge for the two?)

I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff, I have a basic Multimeter, which setting should be it be on, I see OHM, AC, DC, mA. Really want to figure this out once and for all
