Just had my engine rebuilt about 3,000 miles ago. New head gaskets and valve seals. Before I was just using high mileage oil, what weight and type should I use now??? I have 143,000K currently.

Use what the book recommends or what you were using before. Since you didn't have anything done to the rings they will be worn and the high mileage is probably better but I'm sure others will chime in

Did you fully rebuild the engine or just do the gaskets/seals mentioned above? If it was a somewhat thorough rebuild then I would say switch to synthetic. My GS runs much smoother on synthetic

After my topend rebuild, I ran dyno oil for 3000 miles then switched her over to Mobil 1 Synthetic. She loves it.

I think you should just stick to high milage. my 02.cents.
