I've been driving a 1986 Legend Sedan (automatic) for about 1,200 miles and have noticed an average fuel economy of about 18-19 mpg (last full tank was 19.246 on mixed highway/city driving). I have never broken the 20 mpg barrier.

What should I be getting? Is this normal?

Yes. It is automatic. Of course, the mpg would also depend on one's driving style. I resist fast starts, rapid acceleration as much as I can avoid. I think Your mpg of 18 to 19 is fairly decent - I wouldn't be concerned.

I just got home from the gas station. I got 353 miles on 13.9 gallons. That's 25.4 miles per gallon in about 50/50 highway/city driving, and I drive pretty aggressively. That's a little better then normal for me, but I filled the gas up all the way. (spilled a little bit on the ground:( ) I usually get from 22-25 mpg driving about half highway and half city.

I get about 19,5-20 average, and I consider myself a very aggressive driver. 60/40 - city/highway split. That my 90 LS Sedan Auto with 198,000 miles. I used to do a little better...around 21.5 average.

I get about 18 all city and 25 all highway, 20 highway when speeds exceed 85 for long stretches - this is 2.5 liter with 5 speed 204 thou miles. I got 27 once when I was driving very slow on the highway with the a/c off. :)

i get these results with my mods. [high press. fuel regulator being the one that most directly effects gas consumption aside from my driving style]. im not too aggresive in the city because frankly, why rev it up to see who gets to the next red light first?

side note:
- I totally keep my car free of cra*, as some people like to lug around 50lbs of stuff in their car/trunk
-ive got a carbon fiber hood that cuts on weight
-i keep my tires properly inflated ALL the time with my PSI towards the higher end of the optimum spectrum
-i keep my air filter squeeky clean
