hey i'm currently looking for a 94-95 ls 6-speed coupe. i have found a few, but i really want a red one, then white or black. well there is this guy that works out where i do and he has a red one (94). it only has 63K miles on it and hes the original owner. i've been talking to him and at first he wasn't thinking of selling it at all. well after talking to him for a few months he's like wait until he gets done his job, its a seasonal job, and then he'll know what he wants to do. But overall he's not 100% sure he wants to sell it. Now there are other 6-speed ls coupes available. i've seen 2 white ones and a few green ones. should i wait for the guy and pass up these others. i just don't want to get screwed if he doesn't want to sell it after all this time. also how expensive would it be to paint the car. My friends dad owns a body shop and he's like it will be around a $1000 for everything (inside the engine, door jams, etc) i know this is a great price, but will the paint look exactly like the OEM milano red? thanks

Jigga....
I would not pass up a six speed if it came along and that was what I was looking for. Dont wait for someone to sell it because chances are, they willl become more attatched to the car, and the more you bug them, the more they will want to keep it, and the more they will want for it if they sell it. Go for a green one... those are the sweetest color of legends. You can always spend the $$$ to get it painted. And dont cheap out on a paint job because you get what you pay for...... snatch up a six speed before its gone, or bug that one guy to sell his.:)

Personally... If I wanted OEM milano red on the skin of my coupe - I'd wait for the real deal - as opposed to painting everything.

I know through your connections you can get it painted and let me tell you.... if your statment is true....

Then you are very fortunate. Because the man hours that are required to thoroughly remove every component (not to mention the engine / trans) is extensive. Taping (doing a good job) is a bi~atch.

I got into an arguement with an individual who swore a tape(d) paint job is just as good if not equal to a total 100% removal of all glass, trim, rubber, door removal, bumper removal, hood removal - etc and that is just PLAIN BULL SHE~ITE. IMHO - (having been there) - I will not tolerate paint lines (from tape) in the paint or the clear coat OR the tapered edge from powder.

Jigga, IMO, you should wait and see if the guy sells. DO NOT rush into buying a car. You need to wait and get what you want, otherwise evertime you drive down the road or look at pics on the internet and see the car you originally wanted, you will kick yourself.

If in the end the guy doesn't want to sell, just keep looking. Maybe by that time another red coupe will become available. Just have patience.

yeah thanks for the input guys, i just have to stay strong and not look at any other 6-speeds. the one on ebay though is an L model and i don't think it's a 6-speed. i'll check again though. i guess waiting would be the right move since i'll probably be more pissed if i buy something and then he says he wants to sell it as opposed to me waiting and then him saying hes keeping it. thanks guys

A total revamped paint job from one color to another will run you 6K max (if you are just doing an OEM job)... Now this is stripping the car down to the metal frame...
