I got quoted for that amount too, but someone recommanded me to get remanufactured axles, supposely that's better than replacing the CV boots and lasts longer. I got the reman. axles done at $210 per side.

Get the whole axle from Autozone. They will ask you to return yours to them. And the total cost is 80 bucks for the axle assembly. And you can just find some place who wants to install it later on.
