Straight up: are you going to be faster letting the engine rev to 7000rpms and shifting manually, or sticking the trans in d3 and letting it run to 6300 or whatever the stock redline is? This is taking into consideration that you obviously have a bayou chip to raise the redline in the first place, as well as an intake and exhaust, mods that are supposed to help out the top end. My guess is that you could really figure it out by looking at dyno graphs and seeing what the power is like above 6300 with those mods and shifting accordingly. Personally, the car FEELS quite a bit faster to me while shifting manually at 7000 in 1st and 2nd, because after manually shifting from 1st to 2nd, the engine is at a higher rpm than it is when staying in d3 the whole time. However, it seems like the gear change is a little slower when going manually, so this may cancel out any gain you get by doing it. What do you guys think about all this?
