New To Forum

Hi Everyone,

New from Manitoba, Canada with an old faithful '87 Legend 4-door, small V6
135Km (about 84,000 miles) on the clock, been in the family since new. Great transportation summer and winter, but showing major lower body rust (darn that salt!)

Have a problem that I'm needing advice about. Battery died because lights left on. I went to open the hood, to recharge the battery, but one of the 2 Hood Locks won't release. Each hood lock is controlled by its own cable. The driver's side lock will release, and I can unlatch the center hood latch, but can't get the passenger side hood lock to work, can't get at it to fix it, and there seems to be more slack in that cable.

And with no battery I can't take the car to my repair guys. Any suggestions other than towing ??

Thanks in advance for any helpful ideas.

Welcome. That sucks. I can take look at my daughters are tomorrow. You may have an answer by then but if not I will post up if i find something. Sucks one of the first things I did with her car was put a little grease on the latches and springs.

Can you lift the hood enough to see the unlatch cable? If so you can pull it with vice gripes to unlatch it.

Thanks for the replies. Will have a shot at forcing hood up enough to grab cable, see what happens...
