5 Speed vs Automatic

I have owned all G1 with Automatics. There is a 5 speed for sale that I am interested in. What are the pro/cons of a 5 speed transmission?

the pro's are: better gas mileage- more power to the wheels

the con's: stop n go traffic -clutch failure.

I love driving my 5speed. More fun than an auto and better gas mileage as others have stated.

This. I had an Auto as well and had the trans restored and still had problems with it. It was really jerky.

Yes the 5 five speed is a well designed and well built gearbox. And the stock clutch lasts longer than any other clutch I know. I have 170K on the original and it still performs flawlessly.

I have heard nothing but bad things about the automatics.

the automatics are crap the 0-60 time on my auto is about 10.3 seconds the 0-60 time on my buddy's 5 speed is 7.9 seconds same year stock. if i had the money i would mod mine and drop a 5 speed in.

it comes down to this: if you like spirited driving get a stick, autos are for cruising. If you treat your auto like a sports car it will fail. Also maintenance plays a big role in transmission life.

Just for the record...unless its a paperweight I can't think of any cons for the G1 MT. Assuming you don't mind shifting even in traffic...

I prefer it...

Peoples, my coupe came with an integra 5 speed, and its a little jerky at times (sounds like clashing cans). How bad is it to continue running on the Integra tran?

How on God's green earth is there an Integra transmission installed in your car?

I'm not calling you a liar so don't take it that way, but I believe you may be mistaken:

Ya, there's no fuckin way an Integra tranny would fit in there.
