The failure has to do with age which over the years of continual tension on the "up" cable anchor in the nylon "shuttle" causes the nylon to crack and fail at the cable anchorage; then the window just drops.
Because failure is age related, you won't find any salvage ones worth the R&R effort and I got the last OEM one in 2008 at a cost of $500+ from Acura.
If the cables have not been damaged, I have had great success with fiber glassing the nylon "shuttle" failure area so as it is stronger than original; it's tedious and must me done so the minimal "shuttle" clearances remain. I have very successfully done 2 of them (have photos of the process).
To mitigate the tension on the "up" cable I relax the windows by reversing them just a bit off of their stops.
Another alternative is to access the "shuttle" track and lock the window in the up position with a bolt/nut/washers.
