1991 Acura Legend. Broken Axle or Blown Transmission?? Please help!?

1991 Acura Legend. Broken Axle or Blown Transmission?? Please help!?
Hi everybody!! To all who are reading this and responding I appreciate it!!!

Okay to start out I just had my 91 Acura Legend Engine & Transmission replaced with a JDM Engine & Transmission with 40,000 miles on it. I got it out of the mechanic on Sunday...It is now Friday. I ONLY drove the car about 50-60 miles total since having the new engine and transmission installed. Okay. Here is the Problem. I got to work fine and everything was smoothe. Then I get out of work, my car starts smoothe and I reverse and drive off fine. BUT as soon as I make it down the driveway of my job (the driveway has a little hill) and I drive maybe 50 feet and my car looses control completely and makes this weird metal grinding noise! I didn't know what to do!!! I shut the car off and try to start it again. It starts beautifully but it won't drive! It won't even drive in any of the gears. (Reverse, Etc) Oh by the way, its an automatic transmission. Sadly, I had to get it towed. I noticed that when I put it in drive and press the gas I can see the gages that the car is accelerating but it is not going anywhere. But when I put it back into park it makes the loud grinding metal sound. The tow truck driver checked the linkage and that is in tack. He also suggested that my axle might be broken making the transmission not work. PLEASE HELP AND GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS!!! THANX!!!

could be the differential. I would crawl under there and look at the axle's. If one is hanging thats the problem.

it sounds like the axle came loose. Had a similiar problem on a taurus. I highly doubt its a differential problem.

1 of 2 things happened.
1. The CV axle came apart at the outer knuckle.
2. The CV axle popped out of the differential. It was installed all the way in.
Start it and put it in gear then look at each axle shaft. If the speedo is moving and one axle shaft is turning but the wheel is not it's #1. Replace the axle.
If the speedo is moving and neither axle shaft is turning the one of the axles popped out of the differential, #2, and may be able to just be pushed back in.

^ She said the speedo works. Couple that with the grinding sound when she puts it back in park, and its definitely #2, the axle fell out. The question is why. Either the axle nut came loose or ALL of the motor mounts are bad and the motor is falling off center, or the axle has a bad circlip.
