1995 Starter replacement

I’m young and just graduated high school. I have a job but have to walk 12miles to work and home. My neighbor has a car and said if I can fix it he’ll start letting me drive it to work but I have to replace the starter. Does anyone here know the easiest way to replace the starter on a 95 Acura legend ?please help if you do. I can’t seem to get it loose I’ve removed a few bolts but it’s not coming loose. Where is the bolts located and what do I have to remove in order to get to them?

Hello Youngmech,

Attached should be a photo from page 5-12 of the 1991-1995 Legend Haynes Repair Manual, as well as the online service manual for a 1991-1995 Legend Coupe.

The two bolts in question can be seen labelled on the second photo as 'Upper Mounting Bolt' and 'Lower Mounting Bolt'. They face in opposite directions to each other.

For context in the location of the bolts, please refer to figure 16.6a and 16.6b in the first photo.

Hopefully this helps!

That's okay! I'm happy to be of help!

Good luck with the removal!

Congratulations on your graduation, by the by!

Stay safe.

Hello. You def have to jack the front of the car up(please always use jack stands). There are two bolts that face opposite directions. If you remove the alternator you will be able to get to the front bolt much easier and remove the alternator from that way. That back bolt is gonna suck but you can get it with a couple extensions and a universal joint. It’s not the easiest starter to get to but you can get it.

Thanks I see that the one in the back is the biggest issue I’ll have to buy some new extensions. This is a pain in the backside. I keep the hope alive feels like I’m getting closer everyday.
