Nice job OldSchool.

As someone who isn't engine/car savvy as some, I really appreciate your knowledge that you bring to the forum. Especially now when we are at a shortage of people with your knowledge.

Thanks alot.

Old skool!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take those gaskets off of there!!!!!!!!!!

Get a set of OEM or Fel-Pro and use the rest of the gaskets from the kit.

Trust me they are NO GOOD IN SO MANY WAYS! You WILL have a come back.

yes you can do it with a lil know how from this site. the hardest part would be to check to see if heads are warped.

chez1701 02-08-10 09:19 AM

And you will need a special tool too check if the heads are warped!!! Damn!

if you didn't severly over heat your heads should be fine.

Well I letmy daughter drive the Legend & she didn't noticed untill she got to the house. She told me the needle got to the H but didn't understood what it ment even though I explained to her.

Is there a DYI head gasket thread? Or should I junk it? I mean I've done a lot of Items to the car.

OMG girls don't understand cars at all. You might want to swap the engine if it is warped.
There is a DIY HG thread. Buy OEM HGs. Or Fel-Pro.

You need a long metal straight edge and a set of feeler Gauges. Lay the Straight edge on the head surface at 6 different positions and measure with the feelers ( in other words GENTLY try to wedge them in between the head and straightedge) to determine how much of a gap (ie: warpage) there is between the two metal surfaces. The positions are Left side length wise, right side length wise, both sides width wise, and then in an X.

The service manual allows for a slight bit of warpage, but I dont have the clearance numbers on hand. The manufacturers service manual will have them. It can be found in pdf form for free, just google it.

HEY NOW BOYS, WHAT IS THIS THING ABOUT GIRLS KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT CARS? I may not know alot, but I do know a few things, like the fact that we have replaced the head gaskets, *still smoking*, took the heads off and had them serviced, not the problem *still smoking*, but what I don't know is why on earth the stupid thing won't quit smoking!!! It's definitely not the head gaskets, because we have replaced them twice in a month, due to the still smoking issue (taking the heads off). So if anyone has any advice please feel to shoot me some answers!!! Thanks
