Angry My f'n mesh won't fit in my grill to make that custom grill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am stumped on what I should do right now. I am in the process in doing the custom mesh grill for my legend and am frustrated. You guys make it so easy and the pics look the way it should look but I am beginning to think that maybe my legend's grill is different from all of yours. Ok first off the grill comes off the hood like everyone elses and the way it does on the Legend Tuner.com mesh grill tutorial. I have cut the mesh but how and the whole do you guys get the mesh to fit on the oem plastic grill?!?!?!It does not work. The plastic piece where the Acura emblem is sticks out farther than the rest of the grill and I can't get the chrome piece back in without bending the hell out of the grill. I managed to get it in but it looks awful. The mesh sticks out where the Acura emblem was and it is not flush like it is in all the pics. What should I do should I cut the Acura plastic piece out??? I still want to have the Acura emblem there but I want it to sit flush. I read all the other threads and no one elese has seem to come across this problem except for Iinfinite and ironically he is from Colorado as well!??!Help me out here because I love the custom mesh look but I fear I can't get it to work. Someone who has had experience please help me out!!!Please!

Well, in case you didnt know, theres 2 different kinds of grills. The kind that stick in more and the kind that are flush with the emblem. I think in order for you to correctly insert the mesh into the grille you have to cut around the emblem, but since I havent actually installed the mesh into my my grille I cant give you specific details on the installation. Maybe someone else can....

That tutorial is for the G2 Revision 2 grille, you have the Revision 1 grill as shown in the picture below.

Unhappy 2 different grills?????

Well I guesss that might make sense. I think that there are two ways to actually do the mod. I have been looking in to this for the past hour or so and found the mesh grill mod on the legend.org website under Nodifications, Ttutorials. The instructons appear to be like the mesh is cut out so the black center plastic piece is able to push through and then the emblem is put on. You see what I want is the emblem to be put on but I want the silver mesh to cover up all the original plastic mesh and then I will cut two tiny wholes in the mesh so the Acura emblem mounting holes can squeeze through into the center plastic oem piece. Are the grills in the pictures have the black plactics piece fed through?
This is what I want the mesh to look like...
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx x xxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This is what I do not want
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As you can see the two little whole so I can screw the emblem in. What I don't want is a big whole in the mesh so I can feed the center plastic piece through. I think that would look ugly being able to see the cutouts on the mesh just to have the plastic piece feed through. I'm think about cutting the center plastic f ucker out!

Just overlap the mesh where the emblem goes give it a little slack and screw it on but honestly I don't think it would look right cause it would slope instead of being flat. I think it looks best like in the pic above.. just my opinion. I have both types of grills and that one that you have is kinda a pain to get on. If you want you can look on ebay for the grill that is flush with the emblem they sometimes have them on there, thats were I got mine.

I do want the flush grill!

I really would hate to cut and modify my grill. I wish I had the flush grill. How much do those things go for??I didn't even realize that there were 2 different grills on are cars. I might try to track it down but if the mod is worth it I may just end up sand my grill do to fit. Is that the only difference between the grills??Is one flush an the other sticks out a bit. Ii feel stuck but I feel I'm getting some where atleast thanks to you guys I realize that there are two grills.

Actually, the sedans have two types of grilles. '91-'93, the grilles have the emblem raised (like what you see in Darkstar's post). It was changed for '94 and '95 to the one where the emblem no longer protrudes. This is with the exception of the '94 and '95 GS which held on to the '91 - '93 style grille but with color coded trim.

Legend"11, when I did the mesh on my cashmere GS, I had to cut around the emblem, but what I decided to do was to paint the outside edge of the raised mound body color so that it isn't outstandingly "there" (actually, I painted the whole grille body color and only left the center recessed area behind the Acura emblem black).

You're making it harder than it really is. You can sand down the raised part or you can take like 5 min to just cut the mesh around it.

Personally I think it would be a waste of time to find a new grill. If you're willing to take the time to try to put the mesh in then just take a little more time to just cut a circle

I dunno how it would work if you shaved it down, but i just cut my mesh and also I replaced the stock ones with aftermarket emblems. Good luck to you if you shave it

You will not be able to replace the symbol using the normal mounts if you sand down the center piece that holds the embelm. Once you get it sanded flush with the rest of the grill you notice that the center part is falling out, then it is gone! It happened to me. Luckily I had not planned on using the embelm anyway. You can take a thin piece of metal and screw through it into the embelm to mount it. I have seen a Legend where he removed all the plastic in his grill. He did this. I think he is on here. I hope I have helped!
Later!

noooooooo sanding......just put the mesh on the black center part that olds the emblem......get a sharpie marker and just make a circle on the mesh where the endge of the emblem is going to be. then get some wire cutters and cut the circle out......then put the mesh on the thing....and push down so the emblem fits through the circle you've made.

don't sand
