Yes you should be good to go. PC2700/184 PIN DIMM/DDR is the correct spec that your desktop from HP calls for.

do you guys recommend using heat spreaders? They claim to make ram last longer and perform faster.

ok fella's my ram came today, I just powered back up and these are my new specs:.99GB of ram. I thought it would be 1gb since I used two 512MB units also my computer recommends 1521MB initial memory, should I up it or leave it be? sorry if I ask to much but I want to learn.

Thanks in advance,

.99 gig is referencing how much memory you currently have installed. Round the .99 and you will get 1 gigabyte which is two 512 megabyte memory stick added together. Remember your CMOS sees up to 1 gigabyte only. Just leave the default virtual memory settings alone. You should not have the issues with low memory warning anymore.

I would suggest something like an external USB/FIREWIRE HD. You can pickup one online for pretty cheap or go to SAM's or Costco. 1 Terabyte should be good. The reason I pick an external HD is that you can move from one computer to another and it is very easy to transport. I have always had good luck with Western Digital or Seagate.
