well lets see, my dad has two of them, so potentially he would drive one down and i would drive the other... the civic would stay in washington.. but the legends would come to arizona..

and yes 4cruizn you need to be there and travel minimal distance.. haha!

NALM 09 Alaska! Put the legend where the beauty is.

Wish i could submit a bid for ATL but in all honesty, it is within spitting distance of the last one. Wheres the fun in that?

I may have to do the bid for that one. NALM at the North Pole. Photoshoot at Santa's house, cruise down the Alcan, dodge some moose and elk along the way. Sounds like a blast to me .

Well I put up google maps and started looking at distances to different cities wondering what my limits could be. Anything east of Chicago would be easy (after Chattanooga anyway) but to get anywhere people would want to be beyond that, Dallas TX is the next nearest city which is double the trip Chattanooga was(and the same route till Knoxville). So that means this will be an easy trip or a super-mega-ultra-penultimate-road-trip.

Guess I'll bump heads with some of the local members.

I think OEM is the best look. I just don't happen to think any of the various arrangements of OEM got it exactly right all at once

Let's just hope there's no contact. With your track record, I don't know if I'd go tempting fate too much!

Ken - Dallas shouldn't be in the running since it hosted the first one and we have so much more of the country to explore!

With all of the talk about where it should/could be, in reality, it all depends upon the bids submitted. If Dallas were to submit the only bid, Dallas gets it. If a second city were to also submit a bid equally as good as that Dallas bid, the tie breaker would go to the city who has not had an NALM. If that second city's bid is not as good as the Dallas bid, then Dallas is still in the running. Make sense?

Dates and length are entirely up to the bidding party. We had Thursday through Monday planned this year and I actually left Sunday evening late. I would say that I was completely satisfied as well, but depending on how many events you want to pack into it, that may not be enough time.

Using your '08 submission as an example, the Chattanooga bid had two things that ultimately made their bid more desirable - an organized team, and that part of the country had not yet had a NALM. Their bid was also slightly more detailed (maybe because they had more time to prepare), but that was far outweighed by the first to advantages. We can't wait to see what you have in store for '09!

ya know? I'm going to buck up to the bar and call bull$hit. I'm too lazy to go back and read the thread submitting for '08 NALM but I *thought* the idea was to establish a location for '08 and then the locations would switch back and forth between somewhere Eastern and then back to somewhere Western.

WTF is up with these "bids?"

When was it ever established that the location would be per a winning bid?

last year when east one and noone from the east stepped up and made a bid. it was open to the whole country bids.

now its been decided to skip the bs coast selection and just go straight to the bids as it makes more sense. hey, its how the Olympics are done, it works for them. if only we can do planning 2 years in advance.

the process makes total sense to me.

I guess that would tell me that the east wasn't too terribly worried about having NALM then.

"Its been decided..." by whom?

I understand that I've only been registered on the forum for about 18 months, but I don't ever remember any "A-L.com board of directors" announced or voted upon.

I've run an online fan community for over 11 years now, and its always been my attempt to INCLUDE as many people as possible at our get togethers.

even years -- East coast'ers can submit bids and the best bid wins, odd years -- West coast submits bids and the best bid wins....

seems to me that would be the best and most fair way to include the majority of the lower 48 states.

yes, we have a nalm committee. it was formed from the few ppl who have attended all of the past 5 (or 6 is now?) nalm meets.

in the past the event had issues with getting it done right. vegas seemed to be VERY succesfull, this years meet, althou it suffered from issues from past meets, we know why.

The committee is tehre to ensure the event coordination and planing is done right. this year had great success again (even with our troubles). The committee is for the best of this event. its the only way we'll ever get any kind of recognition from Acura.

Its designed based on the NSX national meet system.

so is this committee going to expand? Take in new members? What about those of us that are newer members that just couldn't have made all the NALM meets?

I never questioned the intentions of the committee, just asked where it came from and what criteria was needed to sit on it.

what is it "we" are looking to get from Acura? What is it that Acura can recognize us for that will be beneficial to "us?"

I'm not trying to be a dick, just asking some questions is all.

I've done YEARS of work in the online community I'm involved in and if someone were to pay me for the time myself and the others put in I wouldn't be working a regular job anymore !!
