My third Acura Legend GS
1994 Black on black 6 speed manual.
I'll call her "Six" after the 6 speed and also after a character from the BEST FRAKKING SHOW ON TV - (the new)Battlestar Galactica.
Since I joined the forum a little over 2 years ago, I've been keeping a very close eye on the internet car sales sites, eBay, and a program I use to search all of craigslist all across the lower 48 states and Canada. Checking these on the average of every other day.
Came across an ad on cars.com and zapped an email to the dealership over in New Castle Deleware (35 minutes SW of Philly) that had posted the ad and asked for more pictures and any history on the car. I looked up the dealers website and saw that they had a dozen or so other pictures that just the 1 listed on cars.com. Ran the carfax which was clean except for the fact that the car was an East coast car from day 1. (salt on the roads)
Emailed with the salesman for about a week, and asked for more pictures. The second week I put a deposit on the car, made my airline/rental car/hotel reservations, and flew from Seattle to Philadelphia on Super Bowl Sunday.
The dealership was closed by the time I arrived. (hotel was right across the street) After I checked into my hotel I drove across the street and found that I could drive right to the back of the car lot where the car was. I had packed a very bright pilot's flashlight (Surefire) and since there was nobody there, I spent the next hour looking around the car and shining the light through the windows to check out the interior and looking for any signs of rust. This is an East coast car after all. I found ZERO rust, and after laying on my belly and back shining my little light all under carriage, the underside of the car looked the same as my other two back home.
Got up the next day, drove across the street, checked her out, started her up, let her idle for about 20 mins. In that time another employee (early 30'ish) from the dealership came over and told me that was HIS car. Well, it was his Dad's but when his dad bought the Acura SUV this guy drove it around for awhile. After the history lesson the salesman and I jumped in and then drove her for the next 75 minutes or so. After the test drive I told the saleman I'd take her, and much to my suprize while we were at his desk the previous owner (dealership employee) came up and dropped a file with maintence reciepts on the desk saying that his Father found these earlier this morning.
Called the shipping company and told them the car was ready for pick up now if they had a truck in the area. I took lots of pictures of the car including the "key handoff" but somehow I managed to let the camera slip out of my backpack on one of the flights home... Ugh.
Shipping from coast to coast was around $950.00 and took about 8 days... The LONGEST 8 DAYS I CAN REMEMBER!!
Shes not perfect. There are some scratches, chips, and other various defects, but she was nice enough for me to fly across the country to buy her.
I'll use this thread to showcase updates to my newest Acura Legend GS - "Six"
As she came off the shipping truck
She was a DIRTY GIRL!
Her first BATH!
My own Legend meet
Took off the red and silver pin striping, and took her down to NW Auto Salon where they worked on her for over 7 hours (I know this because I waited at the shop for her the whole 7+ hours)
Not too many good shots as the sun doesn't want to cooperate too much here in the soggy NW.
Some interior shots
Already put my own touch on the gages
Maintence records from '01 from the previous owner. Certainly not "Tyson'ized" but about 25 reciepts all done at a Philly Honda dealership.
The engine bay has been degreased and wiped down as far as my xtra large puppy paws will allow. Haven't detailed the engine bay as I'm waiting on a few items to get here.
Plans for the very near future: OEM fogs, OEM cornering lights and afew other nice little touches. Personlized plate is on the way, but you're going to have to wait to see what it is. I originally wanted to wait until all the work was done on her, but I thought it would be cool to have a progression thread to look back on.
*EDIT #2* A BIG THANKS to Tyson, DrDave, Adam and Fut for all the help, excited emails, phone calls and GPS unit.
Milage total for my 3 GSs approx 234k
