My attempt to paint my tl rims lol

So to start my tl rims had some scuffs and rash so i thought i would try to paint them. For it being my first time i think they came out ok. If i do it again would try different methods. So to start i clean the rims then sanding them down. This is what i would change i think i should of used the aircraft stripper method because sanding was pita. So next i wipe them down withe duplicolor prep wipe. Next was the primer i used two different ones self etching and filler. after the filler primer first coat i sanded some area then wipe it down with a prep wipe. next i sprayed the rims with the top coat which was a bronze color. i got one coat down out of one can, then i pop the cap on the second and the spray top was broken off so i try to push it out with a broken spay cap it work but a lot was leaking out that where all bubbles came from on the rims. i also finished it off with a clear coat which didn't look like it changed anything.

u should be able to do one wheel per can.. if your only getting one coat per can ur putting too much.... air craft stripper is a PAIN.. it work, but takes forever too... and u still gotta sand anyways..

just my 2cents... iv painted 5 sets of wheels already.. lol never again

let those cure for a week or so
go back and lightly sand out all the bubbles and repaint
dont try now or you will smudge it and have to start from beggining.

Also NICE job for first time. . . But remember be patient, if you get bubbles you can use paint thinner and a rag but be careful

Taht clear coat will shine up once it dries =DD

I might have to try another coat. You think I can sand down the wheels if they already have the clear coat on them.

looks good for the first time, although i'm not a fan of the color, and why did you not mask up the tyre?

One of the tires I didn't mask it because it was done with a rip sidewalls the others I tried to be creative and used drop cloth liner instead of newspaper and I was going to use the index method for the lip of the rim but forgot to buy some. So next time I will need to prep better

so does the primer filler actually fill in and once it dries you can sand it and repeat till smooth? did you paint the inside of the rim as well or just the outer?
