Super Advan's

Teaser pics!

A note to you all, I put 225/50 17's on the rims on purpose, so the tires look HUGE. The reason I did this is a test fit. I figured, if oversize tires fit, then the normal tires will fit fine when the car is cornering, bouncing, etc. The size I will be going with is 215/45 17.

Also, the rims were NOT bolted to the car during all this, so they do tilt a little.

That all said, here you go! Apologies for quality, they are cell phone pictures.

Everything was looking great... until I saw this:

Front

Rear

...yikes! They stick out a bit. I'm hoping it will be ok with the flush tires on, but... it'll be really close.

Oh yeah, a random picture:

By the way, the rims are 17x7.5" +30 in the front, 17x8" +38 in the rear.

sorry to burst the bubble but I know for a fact the rears won't be flush at all. I'm running 17x8 with +45 and 225/45 and they only have so much left till it's pushing it. The only way you could REALLY pull it off is with a 205 wide tire. it won't be THAT bad of a stretch, I had 215/45 on my wheels and loved it. Wish i tried 205

I suppose that's a possibility, then again... why not just cut off the rear fenders and redo it?

The Crowing can I ask where you got those wheels? Did you get them used? Because the benefit with going with high end brand rims is that when you make an order, they already have the dimensions for our chasis and will choose the proper offset and let us know our boundries. I'm sorry to say, but +30 in the front will stick out pretty much like how you have it in the picture. When I had 17x7.5 with a +48 it was decently flush, now I'm running 18x7.5 +45 and its super flush. I'm running 18x8 +45 in the rear and its as flush as you can get (had to shave the fender).

Oh yeah, I wasn't going to say anything before but I might as well now. I saw a teaser picture of your rim in your other thread "It has begun" and I was skeptical if they were real Super Advan Racing Vers. II or not, but now I really am since you're straight out calling this thread "super Advan's". Can you please take closer shots of your rims to verify? Real Super Advans Racing Vers. II usually have the logo circling around the center:

Sorry if I seem like a jerk (okay, not really), but I can't stand people posing they have something when they really don't.

Yes, they are real Super Advan's, and yes, I bought them used. It was a deal I couldn't pass up on a rim like this. I'll try to get a closer shot when I have time, especially of the centre caps, which have the logo and name engraved into them. However, my rims are not the ones you have pictured: look closely at the spokes. Mine are closer together. My rims say "Super Advan Generation II" but don't say "Racing" anywhere on them. Hell if I know, or even really care. I just wanted a three spoke rims setup.

^And good eye, yes that's a WRX scoop, and yes, it is functional. The reason I chose that scoop is because it matches the shape of the grille inversely, and makes for a mean front stance.

So the choice comes down to:

215/45 17 and have them be 1mm shorter, yet stick out farther

or

205/50 17 and have them be 11mm taller, but not have them stick out as far?

This is time for YOUR personal preference. I don't mind running a stretched tire, I actually love it. My area allows me to run stretched tires without having to make too many special driving habits. If the roads are rough in your area, you might want to stick to 215.

I dont know what my preferances are, because this is an area I don't really know much about. What are the +'s and -'s to stretched vs. non?
