what do I have to do to fit 20s on my 02 RL?

I want to put 20s on my 2002 RL. How can I make them fit?

Ill put them on 225/35/20 or will 225/40/20 fit? I want to maximize ride comfort (which i know is tough with 20s), but I also want to make sure they dont rub at all and that I'll still be able to seat 4 people in the car.

what can I do??

Thanks guys!

you will need to find a 20x7.5 rim and go with a 30 series tire.

its nice that you guys are giving him sizes and widths of your wheels and the sizes of your tires, but that doesnt mean anything without the proper offset

have them test fitted b4 you buy them. you wont buy a pair of jeans without trying them on?!?! i was thinking of buying mine online but i read that these people would buy them, not fit or rub on the caliper/fender and sell them right away!! i had to travel about 1 hour to joliet to have them fitted! it was worth the drive. plus it was a nice day out. so i would say find a place that will let you test fit the rim and tire package.

Do you have the name and number of that place in Joliet? I'd like to stop and check it out.

Thanks

offset

you can get offset info online from some wheel shops. . . say 42-45 ml on a 7.5 width wheel. my 99 rl roles on 20x7.5 wheels with 45 offset and doesn't rub and unrolled fenders too. if i had a choice, i'd go for 55-65 offset (65 being factory i believe), but good luck finding an alloy you like that has that kind of offset. . .

what kind of wheel is it ELPAISA. The offset information should be freely available on the interweb.

you guys are going WAY too conservative on these sizes for an 99+ RL you can stuff an 8" under there with a 40mm offset lowered! if you're not going to lower you can do an 8.5.

Typically i would look for anything above 38mm with an 8" wide wheel. Don't buy the 7.5" just get an 8 and be done there's plenty of 8s out there with 40+ offsets.

you'll be happier you did the 8 with the extra rubber under the car. more weight distributed across the tires, better tire wear, and if you do it right, with the right tire purchase, you can have a smooth ride.

you are right on B+O.

just to give some of you an idea of how far off some of the suggested wheel sizes are:

My 97 q45 has a suggested wheel size of of 19x8.5 via 42 offset with a suggested tire size of 245 40 19. Keep in mind this is tirerack's recommendation.

(Tirerack doesn't even offer a 20" for 1997 q45 . This means according to them it will not fit.)

I am running 19x9 +13 at the front (3 inch of real lip) with 245 40 19 and lowered about 2 inches.

guess what ? NO RUB. There is a difference of about 30mm-45mm

Choose your wheel sizes wisely.
