I have had the back holder for the cable break. It is plastic. Careful that you don't break the chrome part. It is also made of cheap plastic (Acura should have used metal) . Anyways, I used duct tape and rigged it so the cable would still retract and open the door. IMO, foget trying to fix it if the plastic is broken. Which I bet 99% is the problem. Just go get another door handle. This time I am going to fill the plastic holes in the back with some steel nails or other substance to completly stiffen it. I highly recommend everyone else do the same if you don't want a busted door handle.
I had the little yellow clip that hold the cable in the handle break on me this past weekend. I tried to rig it but could not. I had to order the part from Acura. Funny thing is from 1991 to 1994 you cannot order the clip alone but you have to get the whole handle assy for $180.00. I had him check for 1995 and you could order just the clip. Funny how that works. Its the same exact thing. Good thing I had him search each model year. The clip is only $4.00.
That clips helps hold the door cable in the handle. Unless you rig it otherwise I think you do need it. I wish I knew you had some of course shipping would be costly from Germany to US for a 4.00 clip!
my passenger side dooor is broken cant open it from the inside but u can from the outside ... the plastic broke and and i rigged it up for a while but now its broken again.... where can i order this this thing ?
The handle needs to be ordered by year and color. The 1991 is only for 1991. The LT handle is about $160. The RT is $75. The LT assy is sold with door lock switch and seat memory module. In order to replace, you need to remove the inner door trim panel.
