I had a pair of tails a friend gave me because he couldn't use them .. so I modded them ..
here's a brief desc. of how I did them.
I took them apart using the oven method. then baught some 1/4" thick plexi type material .. Then cut out the shape of the entire tail light to the best I can. Next I needed to make them "mold" to the same slight curve of the tails so I used a heat gun and a few clamps
I then finally got them to stay the way I wanted so I cut the "orange" away from the stock lights and cut the bottom half from the clears I made. making the 2 as straight as I could and glued them together .. then sealed them to the bezel. and painted with that Testers transperant red paint to cover the lip

The directions on the back of the package of the tape .. I got mine from Advanced Auto but I assume that any parts store that sells tint has it .. I found it in the "tints" section of the store .. as for the name, my just said "Black-out tape".

Just go to Wal-Mart or an auto parts store and look for "Black-Out Tape". I got mine at Advance Auto. Clean the chrome very good, removing any dirt, oil, etc. Cover the chrome just like you were going to paint the car. Burnish the tape down for good contact. Your set. I did my chrome over a year ago, still looks good.
