Anyone had experience with NPN Oil Filters?

Are they as good as the Acura/Honda OEM Filters?

Drivewire.com says:

"NPN Oil Filter – The NPN oil filter is used on many new Asian cars and trucks as original equipment. NPN uses the latest technologies in filters and uses a OE spec drain back valve in all metal and canister oil filters."

I am not an expert on this subject but here is a snippet from the web;

Superior Construction
WIX oil filters have a full metal base plate for superior strength at the double seal. They also feature a silicone anti-drainback valve that stays flexible in extreme temperatures. This improves oil flow and keeps oil in the filter to prevent dry starts.

WIX oil filters use an up-front by-pass valve. This design is superior to top-mounted valves because it helps to keep oil from washing past dirty media and entering the engine. The glass-enhanced media in WIX oil filters offers greater efficiency, capturing more 10 to 12 micron sized particles than other cellulose/synthetic blend medias. They also have a coil steel spring to ensure internal filter parts are sealed properly.

WIX panel element air filters have a linear path through the filter for low airflow restriction, a specially formulated adhesive to form WIX's exclusive pocket pleat for the filter media and a soft sealing urethane gasket molded in place on the filter element.

Radial air filters are constructed of mesh screen on the inside wall diameter for element strength and media protection from backfire. Each round filter is manufactured with heat-resistant plastisol with specially designed crush seals on the top and bottom walls and adhesive seal joining the media ends. Additional Filtration Products AMSOIL offers WIX filtration products for auto/light truck and racing applications. This includes not only standard air and oil filters, but fuel, transmission, cabin air and filters specially designed for racing as well.

I believe they are also cheaper than the OEM, but the WIX filters are larger than the standard OEM filter, much like the Acura NSX filter, which some believe is helpful. I also use the Denso filters on my sedan. You can get them at Spark plug, Spark plug wire, spark plug gap, spark plug cross reference and ignition wires at Sparkplugs.com and they are even cheaper. Denso is an OEM supplier and some believe they supply Honda filters. Toyo Roki is the supplier that most recommend for OEM on here and last I heard they don't make the Legend OEM filter anymore, but they may still make it for the NSX which fits fine on our Legends.

Here's a pic for comparison with the OEM NSX (Toyo Roki) on the left, the Denso in the middle, and the Legend OEM on the right.

I wont argue that they are made by a different company, but i KNOW it is not Fram. Frams suck. The Wix sounds ok since it has the OEM style valve.

From my own experience I have seen at least 3 fram oil filters simply fail and blow out. Have never had a problem with WIX, and only used OEM hondas on hondas. Thats excluding the Legend tho. You can get the B and D series filters for like $40/case of 12 at the Honda dealership.

I've done my research. Also, through the two years working at Acura I found that none of the mechanics used the current filters. A couple of the guys have a box of the OLD Toyo Roki filters left and the others use another brand of their choosing. I don't care what you think, I will keep on using my wix filters.
