look at everyone getting all bent out of shape over top speed.

like it matters. its such an amateur question. its seriously one of the first things people ask me about my car when they don't know shit about cars..."how fast have you gone in this thing?"

=|

ELEVENTY-JILLION MILES PER HOUR

anyone can find an open stretch of road and bury the throttle. the only thing you're proving is what your car is capable of. except we already know the legend can go an excess of 150mph. so you're not going to be breaking any records.

i'm not flaming anyone here, we all have our moments where we just want to go over 100 just to feel it. some of us even have those moments when you think "lets just see how far i can push it"...but coming on the internet and getting all stuffy about top speed is just silly.

if we were comparing lap times or even quarter mile times, i could see a reason why people would get upset. but anyone with a car and steady hands can hold onto the steering wheel and floor it. what have you got to prove?

I never saw this thread originally. I wish I could say my car felt like 100 was the starting point of going fast. I guess 6 speeds are a different story, but 100 seems to be were the good fun ends in my automatic. After that is a long and painful process. I scared the ever loving shit out of myself after I passed a cop mashing on the brakes down from 120. I don't think my cars been past 90 since. Speed isn't my cars #1. Also... mashing on brakes at 120 doesn't do much too quickly.

ive gone 85 on accident once down a hilll,.. if that counts.haha. im to scared to go that fast. if yu think about it so many things can go wrong that can make you loose control. especially a blow out. or tie rod breaking etc. buy a ferrari or corvette. not a legend. there to nice to be going that fast. you have to go slow and let everyone see you haha.

My bro did 140 mph on his 93 with BHG back then. And he got caught racing with a Passat VR6 in my dad TL and get clock at 106 mph. he did slap hard opn the brake when he saw the cop car front bumper. Result? Probation for 1 year. Oh Alex is that true that in IL when you are a travler from other state and you get caught doing speeding they won't take check but they will take cash right away. I hear this from my bro s' friend who live in MI and we went to visit him like two years ago. Can some one make a clarification on thins plz? thank.

that sucks, spend all the money on suspension and you cant go fast....

I guess I clearly own the fastest Legend here.
I've done 190 with my girlfriend in the car and she didnt even notice !
That was last summer.

Now I drive MAX 10 over the posted speed limit !
i call BS.....how the ef would you know how fast your going? the Spedo only goes to 140mph.....

well you guys figured that out pretty fast. Well done !

As far as going a lot faster .... sure the car will, but unless your car is really in top mechanical shape ( I mean like almost brand new ) you could be a small failure away from blowing your motor, a headgasket or dying in a crash.

I think driving over 100 mph in a 12 year old car is very risky. Be smart and don't do it often cause you will be pressing your luck.

Let's be honest with ourselves, guys.
Top speed is ridiculously stupid, especially on public roads.
I know a few of the members here in the past 5 years that have had bad wrecks and totaled their car, but very few serious injuries that I know of.

Has any members here actually been killed driving their Legend ? They appear to be fairly good at keeping us alive.

Drive Safe !

I've had the needle burried at 140 and ran it up to 7300 rpm.
Does anyone know what the type 2 auto gearing is good for (mph)

I was on my way home from the drags the night I ran the 14.5's. I had just installed the bayou stage 2 and wanted to see what 3rd would rev out to. At 112 putting it into D4, the Blues went on.

I had 3 weeks left of proba for evading Etc. Right there, VIOLATION. I was Fgged anyway and had two years over my head, so I took my chances. After I hit 7300rpm, I let off and kept it at around 6500. After about 2 miles, I made it far enough away and pulled the ol' turn around after I went over a hill and he couldn't see my lights anymore.
Skidded down the highway for about 400 feet. ABS skipping the whole way. I was aiming for the turn around, but was going straight for the ditch.
Fortunately, I'm skilled at FF drifting or dragging you could say. I pulled the E to make the cop stop turn-around. Barely made it! I was going 70mph in the opposite way as the po9 blasted over the hill. Man, he must have been so Fggin Piissed.
I almost crashed at 130 around a bend during this retardedness.
Since that day, I have never run from the 5-0 and never will again. It's not worth the risks. You all know what they are, so I wont go there.

i want my legend to last atleast 50 years. when i 1st got my legend i did went 140 on the freeway, and it was around 5 am. no cars at all. i went that fast for about 5 miles. the 1st year of owning that car, i drive the car fast and fast at corners, accelerating fast. then my engine blown out. cost $2000 for another good used engine, but this engine sucks its not even fast at all. but after i spend $2000 for that engine, i now drive my car nice and carefully. my goal now is to just take a really good care of my car.

I guess we wouldn't know, unless he was a very active member with lots of "real time" contact with other members.

I admit it was a morbid question, but since we were hearing about people in this thread risking their lives, I was wondering if anyone ever paid the ultimate price for their stupidity.
