First I apologize for the serious teaser and putting up pics of a project without results and dyno's because there are none. And who knows how long it could be before I go any further it could be a year or more! I just love hearing the ideas suggestions, feedback and knowlege you all have to offer. Isn't that a bulk of what we are here for? :) Well as many of you know I am currently underway with the Supercharger setup. It has been a very slow process but is still underway and the manifold for it is now being welded from what I understand.

I could not get over how much I loved Hotlava's tt setup and it overcame me. So I figured at some point in the future I also wanted to do a tt setup and began slowly buying the additional pieces it would take to do so (being that many are the same, such as injectors, fuel pump monitoring gauges and what not). Then last week my car decide to get some garage time (it broke down later found to be a broken axle, Ebay? I think it was tsk tsk). But none the less it was a perfect excuse to play while she was down so I started to look at how I would eventually want my tt to be setup. What better way than to play. It helps kill concepts that look good in your head given the (not so) workable space; a few of my ideas have since died. But long story short this is where I am at so far. Now that my wife knows that it is just a broken axle I only have shipping time to continue playing before having to put her back together again.

A couple quick notes

-No this will not be done/completed for a very very long time.-This is very new to me so I would be the last to ask for suggestions though I love to share ideas.
-Yes the supercharger project is still underway and taking precedence over this.

-No I did not wake up one morning and say I am going to do a Legend Twin turbo setup during breakfast (sorry Hybird, that just kills me lol)
-No I am not going to be using PVC intercooler piping it is just cheaper to hack away at till I figure how I am going to do it when the time comes.
-I have also read up on some articles of Twin vs. Single and each seem to have there advantages from knowlegable members of their respective forums.
-cheap clamps will be replaced with t-clamps.

Ok the book is done here's the pics. (excuse the mess my garage is at war)
also please forgive the ugly "stand in" mesh and terrible paint, looks will come last. I don't want to tear it up after doing body work and paint.

This one concerns me, there is not much rook and there is a damn brake fluid line that may need to be relocated. wires and hoses I don't mind moving brake, AC, and power steering lines I am not so happy/experinced with.

Hopefully at some point I will be done destroying my car and be able to build it up like the one in my head lol.

-Tip- If you get a new intercooler or radiator, cover the fins with cardboard until it is fully installed so you don't damage the fins during installation :hide:

PS. The purple finish and and nice shiney engine bay will be back in time. it was too hard to maintain and not scratch to hell while getting a bug of some sort and doing stuff like ^ this. I think eventually I will powdercoat vs. paint though.

I could speculate, but I'd rather not this early into the project. My first post build goal once it is tuned will just be to sustain 7psi without any cels. And after that is achieved the fun will begin, ie increasing the bost incrementally and replacing whatever doesn't wanna go along with the game plan.

350hp from 3.5 is right at 100hp/liter.. Once he has finished tuning it (which will probably be the longest part of the build) he should be able to get a good deal more than that at high rpm but he might have to open up the combustion chambers a little to increase flow and drop compression.

Are pics of making that console piece in that carbon fiber thread or is that all just first attempt stuff still?

Are you gonna put a pair of those electronically controlled exhaust Ts right before the cat so you can switch to open exhaust:yes:

I still can't believe you managed to squeeze a pair of them in there. One would have done the trick but twins raises the cool and over the top factors by a lot. Its hard to even recognize that as a legend engine bay, and the wire tucks really came out well.

#584 ·
Thank you yeah it was quite a task. I still have a great deal of tucking to do in terms of wiring, but it seems to be coming along. I remember looking in the engine bay and thinking to myself no way are these going to fit lol. Now theres room for a good sized set of twins :).

The pics in this thread are of the 2nd attempt I still have the other one but it won't meet my needs.

Nah that's more work than I really intend to do at this time. That is why I am trying to keep the exhaust as freeflowing as possilbe, less the high flow cat.

For smaller items I would recommend the preimpregnated CF. I didn't do it that way and it is a pain in the A to get everything right. I would also recommend doing a search and reading up about it. And if you can afford it by the proper vacuum mmaterial to do the job which was another thing I did not do. But that's for another thread all together :)

On a side note though I just lifted up the burlwood center console and it is a lot heavier in comparison.

A few more items came in today, but now I realize I might need more -4AN ss hose line.
and the screws that go between the feedline on the hose and the turbos :(, hmm
and a T off the oilpan for the return line. I am thinking Lowes or Home Depot.

Thank you for the pic I too had been looking for those and I had a pc of the OBX's reversed and they are close but yeah both the power steering and water pump get in the way Did this^ ever run?

Swift tracked down the car and had a thread about it somewhere if someone wanted to purchase. He had the phone # even but know one jumped on it. He told me just by looking at the pics you will notice they have a few issues that they still hadn't figured out how to solve, and after speaking with someone it never ran.

Keep up the good work though telion

Thanks, this car has to run no exceptions, I simply cannot afford or accept defeat.

I need to find a place to mount my dual line oil cooler do you think this would be ok so long as everything stayed intacked when the engine is revved hard or do you think I should risk placing it between the intercooler and the radiator? I can make it so the CAI (so to speak) clears it ok but I am not so sure about its effectiveness being so close to the exhaust pipes

Excuse the wiring mess and all the other mess it will be cleaned up eventually.

I would personally put it between the radiator and intercooler or if you could fit it then in one of the front corners. Its functional the way you ahve it, but if you did put it there i would make sure that my mounts were SOLID cause there doesnt appear to be much clearance and if your engine rocks and crushes that thing, well, that would suck i guess!

If you get it between the radiator and intercooler, make sure you ahve very good slim fan (s). Will it not fit directly behind the radiator? If i mounted it in a place where there would be no airflow whatsoever for sure, i might think about routing a hose through one of the fogs or something and point it towards it.

another option would be to get a smaller one and lower the intercooler as much as you can and install teh oil cooler as high as you can between the radiator and intercooler. I mean you could do the same with the current one you have. It appears the cooler you have in the pic is overkill, though.

After months of fighting the temptation to buy a moroso breather can I decided to tweak an oil catch can that I was going to use but didn't know where or how (just liked the price). So it will now be the recipient of the air from the valve covers.

Another idea is to mount the one you have in the pic between your rad and intercooler, and attach a small fan (slim fan) to it. So then you have best of both worlds. You get it out of the way, and it gets airflow to it, and you dont have to decrease your oil capacity by getting a smaller one.

#608 ·
Also a very good point. I think I am going to opt for putting it between the radiator and intercooler the fins are wide enough to not obstruct the low of air. But I still would like more opinions from those that have them. On a side not it seems to decrease the cool factor of the engine bay there lol.

#607 ·
lol yeah almost everything bought after the turbos is overkill, but I hope there to be a reason for that down the road. It wouldfit fine between the radiator and the intercooler which is kind of where I am leaning. It does have solid aluminum motor mounts and a blackend damper though :D. It also has a serious high flow SPAL slim line fan on the radiator that kicks ass I must say.

#609 ·
will a slim fan or any fan for that matter, fit between the radiator and intercooler with the oil cooler you ahve now? If a fan and the oil cooler fit together between the intercooler and rad, that is where i would put it for sure. Thats the best opinion i got for you tonight!

#610 ·
A slim line fan would fit there possibly even in sandwich style ie intercooler then oil cooler then slimline fan in an air pulling direction.

#611 ·
Ok I think I have decided to put it between the radiator and the intercooler. Then if the need arises or the price is right I have room for another slimline fan in there inbetween in all, though I doubt this would be necessary.
