First I apologize for the serious teaser and putting up pics of a project without results and dyno's because there are none. And who knows how long it could be before I go any further it could be a year or more! I just love hearing the ideas suggestions, feedback and knowlege you all have to offer. Isn't that a bulk of what we are here for? :) Well as many of you know I am currently underway with the Supercharger setup. It has been a very slow process but is still underway and the manifold for it is now being welded from what I understand.

I could not get over how much I loved Hotlava's tt setup and it overcame me. So I figured at some point in the future I also wanted to do a tt setup and began slowly buying the additional pieces it would take to do so (being that many are the same, such as injectors, fuel pump monitoring gauges and what not). Then last week my car decide to get some garage time (it broke down later found to be a broken axle, Ebay? I think it was tsk tsk). But none the less it was a perfect excuse to play while she was down so I started to look at how I would eventually want my tt to be setup. What better way than to play. It helps kill concepts that look good in your head given the (not so) workable space; a few of my ideas have since died. But long story short this is where I am at so far. Now that my wife knows that it is just a broken axle I only have shipping time to continue playing before having to put her back together again.

A couple quick notes

-No this will not be done/completed for a very very long time.-This is very new to me so I would be the last to ask for suggestions though I love to share ideas.
-Yes the supercharger project is still underway and taking precedence over this.

-No I did not wake up one morning and say I am going to do a Legend Twin turbo setup during breakfast (sorry Hybird, that just kills me lol)
-No I am not going to be using PVC intercooler piping it is just cheaper to hack away at till I figure how I am going to do it when the time comes.
-I have also read up on some articles of Twin vs. Single and each seem to have there advantages from knowlegable members of their respective forums.
-cheap clamps will be replaced with t-clamps.

Ok the book is done here's the pics. (excuse the mess my garage is at war)
also please forgive the ugly "stand in" mesh and terrible paint, looks will come last. I don't want to tear it up after doing body work and paint.

This one concerns me, there is not much rook and there is a damn brake fluid line that may need to be relocated. wires and hoses I don't mind moving brake, AC, and power steering lines I am not so happy/experinced with.

Hopefully at some point I will be done destroying my car and be able to build it up like the one in my head lol.

-Tip- If you get a new intercooler or radiator, cover the fins with cardboard until it is fully installed so you don't damage the fins during installation :hide:

PS. The purple finish and and nice shiney engine bay will be back in time. it was too hard to maintain and not scratch to hell while getting a bug of some sort and doing stuff like ^ this. I think eventually I will powdercoat vs. paint though.

Admittedly the flash does make it look much better than it does

Thank you, being my second attempt I think I am going to be happy with it for a while since it meets the needs of holding the gauges I decided to go with.

Indeed it will and possibly in 2008 :)

Ive got a question. When you complete this turbo charging of your motor, and have it tuned and finalize everything for yourself to enjoy, do you plan on giving the rest of the community something to go by?

Basically what im saying is when your completely done and enjoying your turbocharged legend, will you at some point share with the rest of us what you did, what is needed, piping sizing, lines used, etc?

Or even possibly do a write up for everything that is needed to accomplish this and/or possibly market a "kit" for users to purchase?

Any insight into this is much appreciated.

lol its all good yeah I will possibly put together a semi kit with headers that have improved angles than the ones that I have, the necessary hoselines, and all teh small stuff needed for the build then leave it up to the buyer to get what ever stuf they want like intercooler, turbos, BOV(s) and stuff like that so you can build according to your budget. And I am always available to say what did and did not work for me for those who are in teh midst of a build via PM.

On a side note I decided yo get the T off the Oil pressure sender ready to go. No teflon tape yet just working through the needed parts.

I wanna go back to the construction of the down pipe for a minute because as I think through the increased likely hood of going to a larger set of turbos I really don't wanna scrap the down pipe, just thoughts.

yeah get one of those mesh flex things. I guess thats what you were talking about before? Id never seen one since im not really into the aftermarket scene, and had thought you were talking about those shitty $10 flexie pipes they sell at autozone..

If you decide to go bigger i got first dibs on buying one of the two you get rid of!!

I am thinking thowing in a set of these just before the bend that hits the Y-pipe

Ok it took awhile to make them but I am just about done with the oil feed lines I still need to decide and buy the connectors that will run from the sending units T to the T to the turbos but figuring out how to get these PIA SS lines to come together was a huge step in the right direction! I guess I should add that the oil pressure sending unit is the same threading as the turbos which was 1/8" threading.

I have purchased the last of the items I will need to oil the turbo lines, the flex piping and a couple of Thermo-tec turbo blankets. This should help progress the project.

#633 ·
Not too much progress on this today but I have decided to not relocate the hoses for teh VSS, and teh power steering, as the only hose that was going to pose to be an issue was the power steering hose so instead I decided to let my local hose hydraulics company rob me and make a hose that was longer, has compression fittings on it (why is metric so much more) and a fire protection sleeve. This way I can move it out of the way of the exhaust and keep it cool under the additional heat in that area. And a side benefit is if I decide to change it or make it longer it just screws right off :)

I was also thinking that the drain hoses were not exactly what I wanted so I did decide to bid on (and win) a set of stainless steel 10AN hoses that better suit the desire for this build.

The top hose might find its way back on Ebay lol.

Posting this pic out of boredum, there will come a time where she will once again resemble my sig. Consider this the before pic.

Not much to report today as I had to work from 8am to 8pm but the Turbo blankets did come in today. I know this question pops up every 10 pages or so. They are kind of a build your own blanket type deal from Thermo-Tec

Before a test fire, I just need to complete the welding and run through the turbos. Well and put the engine back in :D

Ok anyone that has to pull there engine and is remotely considering doing a turbo setup plumb the connectors to the oil pan for the drain line. Removing the oil pan was a bit more of a chore than I expected and I would have been very upset with myself had I decided to drop the engine back in the car then attempt to remove the pan. the lines are mapped out now but I still need to JB Weld the connectors to the pan (contored surface so I wanna get it air tight) and then this part should be done. I am still waiting on my flexpipe so that is a bit of a hold up hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. Lol whoops, disregard the two hoses laying across the intake mainfold they're just sitting there.

I know it doesn't look like it but there is still room for the Power Steering pump.

And yes like my entire garage, the heart of this beast is very very dirty. I am hoping once she is in and complete I can start pulling things off to get powdercoated and jet-hotted but if I were to do this now everything would be chipped to hell.

#641 ·
Ok I am having issues with determining what to do about hooking up lines to teh oil cooler for the 3.5 because it is internal and I think I am going to have to tap it at the oil filter has anyone here done this and have a recommended way of doing it, I am considering a sandwich and remote oil locator again. I guess those are the only two options.

Damn, lookin' good mayne. What kind of HG are you gonna use for the turbo setup? I know the OEM won't last.

#644 ·
That my friend is an excllent question. I think it will hold for a little while but I am considering finding a company that specializes in custom fabrication of this type of part or seeing if my local favrcator can pull off such a feat.

#645 ·
Hope so,if the new HG works out, then I guess you can tell others to buy it, or even better make a GB for it lol.
