Yea, on the roof where its safe. I was thinking of mounting the camera in a different spot for each run and then cutting them together to make one run of the track. The most compelling place to mount the camera would also be the most dangerous for it... down by where the cones are wizzing by. Specifically, staggered over the molding between the rear bumper and rear quarter panel; this has the best view of the car, its suspension travel and the road ahead. I'll look into it. I'm looking at my desktop background right now and I see that could clearly hit a cone. I might be able to get away with mounting the camera up on the rear quarter panel but I'll have to see how the shot looks.
We need to try this out, I've got AutoX on the 12th. Then we can make a badass video at nalm!

LOL i never realized how great this thread is. I should have taken a video while I had a job lol.

I should do a random ride around video one day, but I'm not too keen on the idea of smushing my camera in the moonroof and hoping for the best lol.

i might try that. what you used to hold the camera inplace? and what program you edit the video?
Tyson explains these in post #5 of this thread.

He said in that post -
I'm a total movie editing n00b! I did this in about 15 minutes in Windows Movie Maker (comes with your Windows software if you're running a PC). Seriously, all you do is upload from your camera, drag the clip to a timeline, add a sound track and a title page and voila! It's cake to figure out. Actually yesterday was the first time I even opened up the program so I'm having a lot of fun with it.

As far as mounting the camera... I did this one without a sticky pod (my brother is borrowing it currently) and without a video camera. It was shot with my point-and-shoot digital camera (Canon PowerShot SD750). And you'll all laugh when I tell you how I mounted the camera: I set it in the moonroof track and closed the moonroof on it until it was snug! Worked like a charm.

FYI - I did not have this same luck because I have the Canon A540 and it is not flat like the SD750. So my camera did not stay snug...

For my car videos, I use a combination of a small tripod, the case the tripod travels around in (has a lot of straps), and binder clips (the big fat ones you use to hold hundred page documents together at the office). I can get almost any angle or view I want from within my car using these ~ I can probably get a couple that stick out the windows or even down by the road if I tried. You don't need fancy equipment; just make sure things are well tied and secure.

My camera is a simple Sony point-and-shoot (CyberShot 7.2) ~ for basic video like the videos here, that's usually plenty. For editing, I use an old version of Sony Vegas. I know there are much better programs out there but Sony Vegas is very intuitive and is very good for timing clips to music, figuring good fades, and other little touches.

I purchased Sony Vegas a few years ago for a school project. It's not the cheapest program but it's a pretty good one. I recommend it; $55 is a lot cheaper than it was when I purchased it -_-

i just inherited an old digital camera the quality sucks but im sure some of you people would still enjoy it?? im just waiting on a bigger memory card to arrive for it because right now i can only record 2 minute videos before it runs out of space (lol ya its that old)

This is not my daily commute, I work in richmond and ride a bike.

However, this is my favorite road to drive, the video honestly does not do it justice, they are some pretty serious turns especially at speed.

I took this video with Double Glow the other day, there is another video of me following him all the way up I can post if yall want.

So enough yappin, here is the video: (Its only 2x speed for perspective)
